"Living at Riverwalk was a wonderful experience. The building was consistently clean inside and out. Maintenance requests were always handled quickly, typically within the day of submission. The front desk staff were also always accommodating! Location was great, placing you in the middle of the best downtown restaurants, shopping, and events! I would recommend these apartments to anyone!"
"VISITORS AND RESIDENTS BEWARE! I received a parking ticket 6 minutes after parking in the 2 hour parking. I couldn't believe I got the ticket after the parking attendant happened to be there and explained to another patron and me, the rules of the parking lot. I was inside for an hour and 10 minutes (documented) visiting my son before I came out to find the ticket she left. When I questioned the apartment front desk, all they could say was, "That's meant for RiverWalk Commercial, not apartments.""
"Don't be fooled by a decent outward appearance and promises by the management, this is a horrible place to live. My first issue is with parking. They have a beautiful lot directly in front of the building, but they make you park in a bug infested, weed overgrown lot across the street. They do sell parking passes to the nice lot for more money, but when i asked they said that they were at max capacity and can only give out a very limited amount. This is intriguing because they sell those spots to the public to make money, so i'm not sure why they cant just let all residents park there. They also sell the spots from the other lot to the public, and it's not uncommon to come home on a thursday/friday/saturday only to find out that EVERY SINGLE SPOT in the parking lot you pay monthly for is taken. Another problem is with management's handling of certain maintenance issues. The living room has pretty high ceilings, and from the day i moved in my ceiling light was burned out. Also, the smoke alarm started constantly beeping indicating that the batteries had not been changed. No big deal right? You can Just put in a request to come fix it right? Unfortunately, they say that things like this are the tenants responsibility, as if they expect us to have a 12 ft ladder on hand to solve these issues. Management also goes on power trips somewhat frequently, and constantly accuses people of smoking, noise, etc. No one in my apartment smokes or has ever smoked, yet one day we received a letter form management saying we had been fined several, several hundred dollars for smoking cigarettes in the apartment. I've also known several other tenants to be randomly accused of noise complaints, smoking, etc. with absolutely no cause or proof. When i received the smoking complaint, we went to talk to management about it, and the conversation essentially ended up with management removing the fine and telling us their true motive was to get us to snitch on whoever on our hall was smoking weed/cigarettes in the apartments. An important thing to note here is that you can hear EVERYTHING the people above, below, and next door to you are doing, so there is absolutely no noiseproofing whatsoever between apartments/floors, so theres no surprise that there are complaints about noise. They also tried to fine individuals parked in city owned parking spots, not owned or affiliated with riverwalk apartments/hughes investments in any way, and it required significant effort on the affected tenants to get them to admit their wrongdoing. Additionally, when you get one of these parking violations, they put a massive sticker directly on your windshield that will not come off cleanly and leaves white paper/sticker residue that you must scrape off and potential permanent damage to your windows. This list could go on and on, but I've listed the major complaints and ill leave out a lot of smaller ones. My final advice is that there are quite a few similarly priced apartments just as close to downtown where none of these issues exist. All it really takes is some foresight, tact, and generally higher level of care about the tenants from the management to fix these issues, but based on my experience i wouldn't expect that."
"I am updating my review to one star. To break your lease it is four months rent, which is astronomical but no surprise from this property manager. This place has no amenities and parking is terrible. The front office is not like a normal apartment front office--everything costs and they are of minimal help. If you need to change a smoke detector battery 15ft in the air, they charge you $25 for that. I rarely have maintenance requests for the fear of getting charged for small things. There is no visitor parking nor any visitor parking passes. You cannot have mats outside your front door and likely face a fine for that. Also, I have not scratched the elevator finish, but another reviewer mentioned a fine for that, which I do not doubt. Plus, the front office sent me a probing email under the guise of a parking audit asking where my roommate parks. Why not ask her? It really is none of their business. Plus, they only have so many parking spots to offer and are probably sold out at the moment, so who cares where she parks? There are also numerous noise complaints in this place. I can hear my upstairs diagonal neighbor doing the Clemson cadence count at 10:00 p.m. on a non-game night. Live somewhere else, in one of the many other apartments downtown that offer a pool, a gym, free maintenance, and likely only two months rent for breaking a lease."
"Do not live here. Front office is unreasonable. READ YOUR LEASE CAREFULLY. They bully you into re-signing, then stick you with a large penalty for breaking your lease. Parking is NOT included in rent. It is a Nightmare, to the point where if you leave for dinner your spot may not be there when you get back. We thought about moving to River's Edge... same front office! If You scratch the elevator when moving it's a $1500 fine! Sad! Not fake news!"
