The Elliott House Inn

"The hotel itself was nice enough and in a good location, and I would have expected to have a pleasant stay from first impressions. However the service was so-so, and seemed ill equipped to manage any negative experiences that arose for guests. I was woken up by a leak from the bathroom ceiling at 5am, pouring water onto the toilet and flooding the bathroom floor. I had to figure out how to contact the front office, and ended up calling the main line and then the after hour number a bit before 6am. I was told that the issue couldn't be addressed until later in the day (understandable at 6am), however, where I take issue is how everything was handled from this phone call forward. I never received confirmation that they were going into my room, or that the issue has been resolved. I received no offer of compensation or remediation, nor as much as an acknowledgement or apology for the inconvenience of the issue. Further, the clean up job was mediocre, the toilet seat was still wet when I used it later that day. This was also all very inconvenient as it 1) woke me up at 5am, 2) made it impossible to use the bathroom at all, 3) was not handled well by staff. "The ladies at the front desk are SO awesome and helpful but you are really only going to like the location here. Basic room that you can hear EVERYTHING from. It’s been a long time since I have heard that much noise while inside a hotel room. Location is perfect but if you expect a good nights sleep it won’t be here."

"Maybe bc we’d just come from a 5 star hotel in Charlotte, that the inn wasn’t exactly as we expected. Great location, clean room, cute courtyard, and nice enough bed/ shower. But NO HOUSEKEEPING or trash pick up, coffee served outside was luke warm, phone didn’t really access front desk, broken wall socket, and staff seemed slightly disenchanted like they need a bit of love from corporate for their job. Noise level was fine, great restaurants nearby, just not a $300/ night hotel. They could take it up a notch and make it stellar w better mattresses and on staff housekeeping."

"We stayed here for our wedding night. Check-in went smoothly. They explained that no one would be at the reception desk from 11pm-7am, however there would be a number to call for any issues during the night. Shortly after 11pm, my wife and I decided to grab a glass of water from the courtyard. Upon returning to our room, the door was locked. We called the number on-call and explained the situation. She responded by saying she “was too inebriated to drive” and suggested we try to check into a different hotel for the night and we would be reimbursed in the morning. With no shoes, wallet, etc. we were very frustrated especially considering her attitude during the phone call. Finally we were able to find a maintenance person who was heading out and he was able to let us in. Overall we were very disappointed with the level of service we received, especially considering it was our wedding night. If there is an on-call contact, they should be willing and able to assist guests throughout the night."

"My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights while celebrating our anniversary. We loved it! The room was quaint and just what we were looking for, and even had a little patio outside our room as well. The courtyard is so cute to enjoy happy hour. The location is a prime spot as well, right between two great restaurants, and easily walkable throughout the town. The staff made our stay easy. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others visiting Charleston."
