"I bought a piece I should have taken a better look at before purchasing. As I was holding my toddler, I noticed the piece was imbalanced and brought it to the attention of the booth owner. The very sweet booth owner relayed it was likely resting on something and that was the reasoning for the imbalance. Furthermore, it was in a corner spot of her booth and I was unable to take a good look at it because there was a glass lamp on top and I mentioned I didn’t want to mess with it just in case the glass lamp may fall over. We negotiated a price that would have been reasonable for a real vintage/antique piece. The booth owner had brought it outside and kindly helped me load it. When I brought my car around, I should have inspected it again but had a baby ready to go. When I was able to unload it, I noticed that it had a piece of particle board as the back side (not matching the rest of the pine) and it was extremely imbalanced with 2 corners much different heights than the others. I purchased this piece from them on a Friday afternoon, set it up on the Saturday to these findings and called back Tuesday as soon as they opened to say I’d like to return it because it was not worth the exorbitant amount I paid for a non vintage/antique, rickety piece. Unfortunately I was told that it was a final sale and that I wasn’t able to return it. Personally, if I’d told someone that it was probably “sitting on a cord” and that’s why it was wobbly and then they called back to say that it was much flimsier than expected, and not worth the price paid, in fact not a true antique, I would have offered a credit for exchange to my booth and let them return it. Especially when we had the conversation that our family was building a farmhouse and I couldn’t wait to come back and purchase more once we finished building. The amount I paid makes me sick to my stomach, but it’s my fault for not taking a closer look and being distracted with a toddler. Sweet staff, unfortunate outcome. Make sure to inspect thoroughly before purchasing here."
"Walking into this magical store, I immediately felt at home. Beautifully staged merchandise gave me ideas for my own decorating. Loved the vintage painted furniture, painted in-house. Store owner and other employees super friendly and inviting. Great mix of furniture, art, lamps, glassware, textiles, etc. if you like one of a kind pieces, pops of color, and items that have some history and character, Cottage Grove Vintage Market just might make your heart as happy as it makes mine!"

"I went in the store looking for chalk paint for my daughter's dresser. I explained that I was unsure as to which color she would like and 3 ladies were kind enough to find paint stirrers with samples on them so that I could show my daughter. I went ahead and purchased all 3 containers because we were trying to knock out the project that day and I just told the employees that I would return whichever colors my daughter didn't like. We ended up choosing a completely different paint and I went back today to return the unopened containers. It was then that I was told that they did not allow any returns. I was shocked that none of the employees had mentioned that on the day of purchase. I spent $75 on chalk paint and now have 3 containers that I can't use. There is a small sign at the cash register that reads "No Returns" (that I didn't see until they pointed it out today) but I am dissappinted that no one mentioned this to me at the time of purchase when I was clear of my intentions to return the unused paint. The kind lady working today felt that an exception should be made, so she called the owner on the phone. Unfortunately, the owner didn't share the same empathy and refused to allow the return. I am disappointed because the store is super cute and the employees were kind, but it doesn't fix the way that I was misled."
