Tru by Hilton Camillus Syracuse

"I stayed at the hotel for a combined 2 weeks during the months of November and December 2023 on a business trip. This hotel is very poorly run with seemingly very few employees. The general manager is arrogant, condescending, and rude despite being very new and having little understanding of how to complete the day to day tasks. E.g.: Said manager charged me $580 extra upon my arrival despite having prepaid for the entire stay; when confronted on the issue she decided to argue and not accept any sort of fault. I had to ask a clerk for help the day after to get actual results. I'll sum up some remaining pros and cons below. Pros: above average breakfast despite being out of milk for 4 straight days, clean lobby, clean exercise room, convenient location for shopping, dining, and mild entertainment. Cons: Disgusting smelling room with many broken items, dirty sheets, and broken blinds. The basketball court had a lot of equipment, however, most consisted of deflated balls and broken/missing equipment. Lastly, the woman that claims to be a general manager is terrible; she over-complicated my stay and her ignorance will likely lead her to do it again. Overall, don't stay at this hotel. There are many better options much closer to the City of Syracuse. I will never stay at this place again if I'm ever unfortunate enough to have to return to this area."

"Price, quality, family-friendly, all together, an A+. We have been staying there with our children since this location opened and slowly started to notice a decline in quality. Hilton immediately addressed the issues and new GM, Aaron, was AMAZING at addressing all of our concerns. Glad to have this location and friendly staff. Definitely recommended for families, pets, kids."

"Reserved online, checked in online and received a digital key. Was greeted by staff upon arrival but was able to go straight to my room and u lock ut with the digital key on my phone. The room was clean, no bathtub but had a shower, no carpets, and also had a TV and microwave. As I was just driving through Syracuse this location was only a few minutes from the highway and co-located with a Costco and many other stores and restaurants all within walking distance. Also was about a 10 minute drive from the Destiny USA mall."

"Pros: Dog friendly, and the staff were very friendly. Cons: everything else. Our bed was missing a sheet. There was no hand soap in the bathroom or body wash in the shower, and no one brought any even the day after we asked. The breakfast was a disaster: the first day they had no coffee, no milk, no yogurt. The rest of the stay had coffee returned but the pancake machine was broken and milk was only sometimes available. No sound-proofing—we could hear every word of the TV from the neighboring room at 11 pm. It’s a decent facility in theory but we paid way too much for motel-level amenities and service."

"This year is the second time I have stayed in this hotel. Personally I am disappointed there is a basketball court instead of a pool but others in my group enjoyed it. Our room was a little small but comfortable. It was not as clean as I would have preferred. The floor needed to be swept. The sheets had definetly been slept in, there was a long hair on them. Bathroom had hair all over it. On the list of pros though the staff is friendly and helpful, when we asked for more towels they brought them up promptly. And they offer complimentary hot breakfast. While I would prefer a hotel with a pool/hot tub I would stay here again."
