"Absolutely amazing! I don't say this lightly: The Sherman Inn is better than many of the luxury hotels where I've stayed. From the huge rooms to the antique furniture, to the mattresses (which spoiled me and I now need to buy them for home) to the great breakfasts, it was as perfect as a stay could be. And of course, the hosts Donna and Jim, who are welcoming, interesting, informative, and always available should you need anything. What we didn't know before arrival is that the former school's auditorium is a dedicated play space filled with toys! Bring your kids!! The Sherman Inn is the opposite of a cookie cutter hotel. We'll be staying there whenever we visit Ogdensburg. Thank you Donna and Jim!"
"The couple that owns this place has done an AMAZING job decorating! We were there at Halloween and Christmas and there was tons of seasonal decor each time. Each room is based on a president that has visited ogdensburg and they’re so unique and special! Breakfast is delicious, very filling. Coffee is plentiful! Definitely an experience to have in the North Country! VERY kid friendly! They have a whole gymnasium with toys that their grandchildren use. They even put a high chair up at breakfast for us!"
"The price-quality relationship is unbeatable: I've visited several hotels in the U.S., and undoubtedly, this has probably been the most memorable. We visited Ogdensburg just because we saw this interesting accommodation, and at every point, we were surprised. We thought that visiting and staying in a hotel that was previously a school was a great idea, but we found that there was much more that made this place special. As soon as we entered, we noticed the adorable Christmas decorations that were in every space of the school. Jim greeted us with a big smile and asked if we wanted him to give us a guided tour of the place or just show us the room. I couldn't resist the history, and Jim enthusiastically showed us around, adding historical facts about the school and Ogdensburg. It was truly interesting, and I don't think there are more suitable people to bring this hotel to life than them. What better than to sleep in a hotel that was a school with people so passionate about the history and the place it's located? I couldn't ask for more. On the second floor, they have a well-equipped kitchen available for Sherman Inn visitors. And of course, we used it! It made our stay comfortable as if we were at home. Breakfast was delicious, and we shared with other guests, each friendlier than the last. The owners were there to attend to us, and they were truly available for any questions. I am so pleased with the experience that I have already booked my next stay at Sherman Inn"
"This old school converted to a B & B is so interesting and unique. The bedrooms are former classrooms and maintain some of the charming original features, like cloakrooms!. The bedrooms are quiet, huge, the beds are comfortable, there are a lot of seating areas, and each room is themed after a president who visited Ogdensburg. And a full kitchen is made available for cooking or heating up food or making tea or coffee. Breakfasts are delicious with lots of fresh fruit. And you can even shoot hoops in the gym if you want! We highly recommend this place. We'd love to go back."
"Warm welcome from Donna that included interesting tour of the converted school. Stayed in very spacious Teddy Roosevelt Suite decorated like a fancy western Lodge. Breakfast was excellent with coffee, OJ, bacon, waffle with strawberries and whip cream and a lot of 5 kinds of fresh fruit. Great conversation at breakfast table as host Jim shared some local history. Really felt welcome here and enjoyed the whole experience. This is super special place!"
