"Dr. Black cares!!! I almost cried tears of joy as my son has been dealing with a chronic cough for over two months that had interfered with our lives. So glad he took my son in as a patient. I realize that a lot of these doctors don’t know what they are doing, but he does. He listens, he cares and has effective methods to get better. Thank you Asthma & Allergy Specialists!!!"
"I was seen by Doctor Johnston, when I tell you his staff and hisself was so amazing! I came in and left feeling feeling like they treated me with 100% love and care. I’m currently 6 months pregnant with sever asthma you would’ve though I was in labor or something very traumatic his assistant and himself hardly ever left me alone no waiting and was very patient and catering! They even called for the next two days just to check and make sure I was ok and still breathing well. I came in on the verge of going straight to the hospital but he took his time not caring that they were about to close for the day and made sure I was well. I’m so impressed! Thank you!"
"Just left this office after an appointment with Dr. Black for my daughter. He is the most rude and condescending individual I have ever met. If you want to be talked to like you're stupid, this is the place to come. He even cut me off in the middle of my answer to the questions HE was asking. Then with a quick snarky tone said there is no test for that. So I continued with my statement, so he could see how wrong he was. When he realized that, he said oh yeah there is that. Only came here as a referral from our pediatrician, we will not be returning. There are many other pulmonologists in the Charlotte area that would have been a lot better."
"I love Dr. Patel who has helped my son for years since he was diagnosed with a food allergy so I hate to have to leave the practice. We also dealt with Dr. Ashe in the past when he was dealing with seasonal allergies. He has been a patient for almost 10 years My dermatologist recently told me I needed to be allergy tested and was prepared to refer me to another practice but I insisted on going to Asthma & Allergy Specialists because of the relationship we've built with Dr. Patel. The first problem is that I called to set the appointment for myself and had to leave a message. It took 2 days for me to get a return call and at that time the office personnel told me that I couldn't make an appointment for myself because my son had a $30 balance. I had no problem with paying it but was given the run around on who to contact to do so. I asked if this could just be paid when I came in but that was not an option and I would think they know we are good for it because we've been there a long time. Additionally, the person I spoke to was just plain rude so I will be reaching back out to my dermatologist to get a referral. Not only did this practice miss out on gaining another patient, it is also losing a long term patient over $30."
"My son has been a patient of Dr. Patel's since he was a few months old. Dr. Patel is awesome but the office staff is horrific. We went for his appt today and was told we needed to pay the $89. balance so he lady at the front desk said I could call w/ our HSA card today to pay and secretly called the office manager, Kim, in which Kim said I needed to pay the full balance. I asked could I pay something and she said no, I had to pay the balance before being seen. What bothers me about this is when I scheduled this appointment, it wasn't mentioned to me then. Had I known, I would have paid it right then on the phone. This is my husband's card and he keeps it on him, I couldn't get a hold of him since he's in meetings all day. I finally did reach him later, after I left. He contacted Ginger at the main office and then Kim at the Mallard Creek office. Both kept saying this was office policy and had no empathy. I get it, people say they will pay all the time and don't but I'm not one of those people and I was willing to pay something. They said it's already went to collections but wasn't willing to take anything?!? I also had 3 little kids in tote, I had to get all of them ready and fed before we got there and had to change diapers in the parking lot. They have no clue what I went through just to get there for the appointment. So unfortunately, Dr. Patel lost business over $89. I absolutely love Dr. Patel but it seems as though they pick and choose who the policy abides to and who it doesn't. I don't have a problem paying the amount, I have a problem with the way I was treated and the fact that I was willing to pay something, even half until I could get the rest paid. I've never ran across any office manager that wouldn't work with their patient especially because my son is now 4, he's been going there for years and they know we are good for paying the balances. So we will be looking for a new allergy Dr. ONLY due to the office managers, not Dr. Patel."
