At Waystation Counseling PLLC, we offer cognitive processing therapy (CPT) to help individuals recover from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and related conditions. CPT is a manualized therapy that combines elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and typically consists of 12 sessions plus assessment. Our clinicians conceptualize PTSD as a disorder of non-recovery rooted in avoidance of distressing thoughts and beliefs, and work with clients to process traumatic memories and emotions in a healthy way.

In addition to CPT, we also offer the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) to help families improve their relationships and create a more enjoyable family life. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is another therapy option we provide, which focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive distortions to improve mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.

CBT is based on the belief that thought distortions and maladaptive behaviors contribute to mental health disorders, and by teaching new coping skills and information-processing techniques, symptoms can be reduced.
