"Dr. Matkins was mean. I came to him with all my symptoms. weight gain. acne. hair loss. irregular periods. depression. so on and all he said was “it’s because you’re overweight” “you have a pcos metabolism but it’s not pcos. it’s because you eat too many carbs” I continued to tell him that I was doing all the right things and that nothing was changing. He told me I was lying about my calorie intake and that if I was telling the truth. I wouldn’t be fat or struggle with weight loss. my entire purpose of going to a GYN was because of my symptoms not going away no matter what i did and he said everything would go away if i ate less. i left that office crying. it’s so hard for women of color to find a doctor who hears them and understands them and doctor matkins is NOT one of them."

"Dr. Matkins drew me a picture of PCOS and explained that it's not painful so they know that women are exaggerating when they complain about pain. Wow, hello medical gaslighting."

"HORRIBLE customer service. I do NOT recommend this practice or doctor. I was with my sister when she was singing in for her visit with Dr. Matkins. Her appointment was at 3:15 and unfortunately due to parking issues, she could not arrive until 3:23. The office administrator turned her away as she said the doctor had marked her as a “no show”. She was 8 minutes late and the doctor has the right to turn her away? I find it interesting that at most doctor offices, you have to wait 30-90 minutes WAY past an appointment time but God forbid, you show up a few minutes late. The way in which this office handled the situation was extremely poor and there was no ounce of negotiation or sympathy from the people working at the desk."

"I arrived 6 minutes late to my appointment due to parking being half a mile away. I walked in after having pre checked in online, and they informed me that Jerry had marked me as a no show and could not see me as it would “put him behind schedule”. I’m not sure what happened to the 15 minute grace period, but I was not even 10 minutes late and was turned away. This is bad customer service considering I had already pre checked in and the amount of time I was “late” to my appointment would’ve been applied to checking in once I got there. Regardless, there should also be a grace period when it comes to medical issues, and I feel like this was an excuse to cancel a patient visit and allow for more time in his schedule. Not pleased at all."

"I have had a great experience with Dr. Matkins. He has excellent bedside manner, and is very thorough and precautionary. He delivered all news good or bad in a easy to understand way, calmly, and proactively. He scheduled me specialist appointments and follow ups promptly. I highly recommend Dr. Matkins."
