"We've been living with a mold problem for the better part of a month. We discovered the issue on Oct. 21 when our coat closet door stopped shutting — the wood was swollen. Maintenance diagnosed a water leak a few days later in the water heater piping system which we were later informed "happens all the time." As a result of the leak, black and blue mold grew in the water heater closet and in the coat closet. WL maintenance came in with CLR and tried to use a damp rag to scrape the mold off. Said they'd use a dehumidifier and try to paint over the area. We informed the office that this wasn't appropriate. Sheetrock is a porous surface, and the impacted parts of the wall need to be removed. The office was given a written statement of the issue, and they scheduled a crew to remove the impacted parts of the wall on Nov. 3. It's now Nov. 18 and we've had 4 people come into our apartment to give quotes — 5 if you count the company who took the wall portion out. However, the same maintenance worker quipped to another company giving a quote "Yeah, no way we're paying that. Too expensive." Long story short, it's November 18. We're missing a lot of the walls in our "renovated" apartment. No communication on when or if the walls will ever be fixed. Haven't heard from anyone in more than a week and a half. Was told to email the property manager for a status update. And now — mold is regrowing under the bathroom. We've also asked about a credit on rent for the square footage we can't use given the half-completed restoration work for an issue that was not our fault. I was told I'd hear back about that on Nov. 13, and that never happened."
"The rental company that owns and operates this apartment complex is terrible. My rent has gone up more than 50% in the last four years, despite literally nothing in my actual apartment changing. In that time, they've actually taken away amenities while continuing to predatorily increase the rates. If this wasn't enough, they make you jump through hoops to pay your rent. If you're even one day late, you can't use their online system to pay. Instead, you have to take CASH to a nearby Walmart/Harris Teeter and use a "MoneyGram" to pay. Stay far away from here unless you enjoy predatory corporations coming in and making life harder for Cary residents just looking for a place to live."
"I lived here for 2 years and can not recommend to anyone. There's a reason why they were giving away 8, then 6, and now 4 weeks of free rent in this market... it's very overpriced (for both renovated and "classic apts") and every single person I met in my 2 years of living there moved out or planned to shortly after I did in May 2023. As other reviews mention, the management was awful- to the point where it was actually impressive at how hard it was to get ahold of them or get them to do something, especially proactively. It was blatantly obvious that the ownership only cares about profits and not about the people that live there. There was no gym for over a year when they said it would be 1 month, the volleyball court was dirty when I moved in and wasn't cleaned a single time when I lived there, the amount of amenities decreased with continuously increased pricing, no clear or continuous communication about renovation plans to current residents, and staple, basic things were just not done. Also, the amount of cockroaches I saw was far beyond what could be blamed on living close to the woods. Whatever pest control we paid for was not done in a way that actually controlled the pests. Worst part is, the concerns listed again and again had been raised by residents and reviews had been left by former residents throughout the years and nothing changed for the better, just got worse. Positive: the maintenance staff is great."
"I've lived in a lot of apartments, and this has been my best experience to date. The office staff are fantastic! I mostly worked with Katie, who was extremely informative, prompt, and honestly a fun, joyful person. I also had good experiences with the rest of the staff (Lakeside & Lofts), who were all incredibly helpful and friendly. I saw some reviews say that they couldn't get ahold of staff, but I honestly think they don't understand how the phone system works at these large management companies: your phone call doesn't go to the office, it goes to a call center who takes a message for you. That's really common nowadays. But what's great about this place is that every time I left a message with the call center, I got a call back the same day (which not all apartments are so prompt). If I ever felt like I needed an answer asap, I just went to the office and someone was there willing and able to help. The apartment itself was extremely clean when we moved in (I'm in a newly renovated one). The huge windows and the large countertop are my favorite parts. The floorplan works great for us too. My husband works from home and I'm hybrid. I don't love being in the same room when he's on the phone, so the 2-bedroom was perfect because the entry area is big enough for stools at the counter, my desk by the front door, and our 4 person dining table in the center, without feeling cramped. The residents here, too, are so amazingly nice. It's pretty quiet since the complex seems to attract over 30 professionals, small families, and retirees. It's a good mix. On our first night, we had 1 person offer us a handtruck to help us move. Two different people stopped and talked to us. And more still smiled and said hi. It was really refreshing since our last neighborhood. We, of course, chose this apartment for the access to the greenways, which cannot be beat. If you're a runner or biker, or just love nature, this location is ideal. Bike by the picturesque lake and you can hop on the trail that feeds into Umstead via a large, gravel (no car) road. Go a different way and have a nice, shaded jog with your dog through the woods and to the nearby park. We like bringing the frisbee for our dog and letting him run on the fields. I also wanted to address some of the other reviews that mentioned bugs. Just want to say, the Raleigh area has roaches. It's just a fact. It's hot and humid in the summer, so you're going to see them outside at night no matter where you are in this town. However, I have NEVER seen one in my apartment. And it's not like they're all over the place outside. In a night, you might see 1 or 2. That's actually really good for this area. But if you don't like seeing bugs outside, the South might not be for you. Luckily, maybe because residents here are conscientious and maintain their apartments, or because of the complex' regular spraying, the apartments themselves stay pretty much bug-free."
"I rented at Weston Lakeside for two years. There are some major cons: 1.) The lease office, Katy, and others never follow up (never answer the phone) or call you back when addressing issues. I tried to reach out numerous times and even stopped in the office with fake pleasantries. 2.) The office will charge you a cleaning and carpet cleaning fee even if you dispute the charge-see pictures attached (place was left perfect.) 3.) The noise from neighbors is extremely loud because of poor construction-must live on top floor or you hear walking all night. 4.) Police showed up 6 times living there due to noise, crime activity and racing. 5.) Building 2000 has flooding from the rain on every floor. Comes in from open balconies. Carpets smell moldy 6.) Rent increase 50% from $1,200/ month to 1,800/ month. 7.) Renovations are moving residents' mid lease. Pros: 1.) Nice greenway access. 2.) Great landscaping crew, plants and flowers The management needs to address these issues immediately but seem not to care. I hope this helps, Dan Porter"
