"Oh goodness where do I begin. As most have already said this used to be a lovely place with great management. Unfortunately that changed overnight when peak took over. I believe I have seen better amenities at motel 6s. The pool, terrible. The gym, even worse. And don’t get me started on the laundry facilities folks have to use if they don’t live in building “A”. The management went from folks that seemingly cared about the place to non existent overnight. Their new maintenance “staff” is absolute trash. He would always park in handicap and have no respect for the place at all. A great majority of units are left vacant. We were paying 1300+ for a one bedroom and new trashy folks were moving in at 900 for the same floor plan, hence why we moved. You want to drop the rent that substantially, you’re going to have to deal with low income people that have no respect. They have painted the place potentially the ugliest color scheme I have ever seen in my life. It looks like they’re shooting for a section 8 vibe. This place and its management are a disgrace to the great old Salem/ brookstown/ downtown area. At a point and time I was proud to live there but then when peak took over I was embarrassed and ready to move immediately. When we finally moved out it took an ungodly amount of time to get our security deposit back. Guess why? They were trying to send the deposit back to hilltop house when I left them my forwarding address multiple times. I know exactly what they were doing. Stalling to keep money on the books for two months since they have so many vacancies. It’s only a matter of time for peak at this location. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say any good reviews on here are fake or coerced. Such a disgrace. Stay far, far away and take your money elsewhere. I can’t wait for their clap back to this response, and then watch multiple 5 star reviews pop up right after. You’re not slick."
"Since moving here they have completed numerous unnecessary walk-ins on my apartment. The fire alarm has been going off way too many times for "false alarms" since Yadkin Valley Fire Protection began servicing. Management should be fined for the faulty fire alarms just as if someone could be arrested for yelling "fire" in a movie theater. There is not enough parking for every resident, forcing those to use non traditional parking spots, that would otherwise be empty. Management will send messages asking for residents to move their vehicles, yet their own staff members continue to park in handicap spots. Horrible management, horrible fire alarm safety practices, horrible parking. You'd think with rent being so high there would be some level of professionalism and luxury attached to it. Nope. Oh wait there's a pool table and neon signs on the ‘club house’!! That definitely makes up for all the troubles. Edit- Mysteriously 2 hours after posting this review, three stellar 5 star reviews popped up! Very interesting… If you want to live at a complex that “fakes” reviews and never returns your calls and concerns, come right over!!"
"This used to be a decent apartment complex for the price before new management took over. Since then, I had a leak that was not addressed besides the maintenance man coming in to stare at it for a few seconds and then leave. They claim to have pest control once a month but as you can see by the photos posted above These critters also lived in my apartment during the summer months. I made multiple complaints with no resolution. The pool was closed a lot this summer, which was one of the major amenities I was looking for an apartment hunting. It was disgustingly green as pictured above in an It was disgustingly green as pictured in another review. Also, the laundry in gym has been closed since June, it was only supposed to be closed for about a month. I was informed if I re-signed my lease I would now be paying for extra utilities that I did not pay for previously Also, anyone in the office was super hard to get a hold of for any issues if they even replied. The office staff seemed to change every couple of weeks. I actually ended up handing my keys to maintenance after I moved out because there was absolutely no one to be found in the office. I have noticed a significant increase of crime just within the apartment complex before moving out, multiple car, break-ins and police cars visiting often."
"Cheaply put together apartments with car break-ins, rude management, and no working facilities. It took a month for the AC unit to be fixed within my apartment in August. Maintenance can and will walk-in without notice, while you are in the shower. Never ending projects limit parking and accessibility to the buildings. Constant management change. This is the worst apartment complex in Winston by a mile."
"This apartment has gone SEVERELY downhill since being sold to peak management. The new management is literally impossible to get ahold of. I genuinely don’t even know who the new manager is. They are extremely rude when you do get ahold of them. They refused to negotiate rent with me and only negotiated with my husband. As of right now, this apartment has exactly ZERO amenities with the pool being closed on and off all summer and the gym, clubhouse and laundry facilities being closed for renovation. There are also roaches in the older building. Despite the general disrepair of the apartments and the blatant disregard of management towards tenant concerns, they continue to raise rent prices. Also, if you haven’t seen the apartments in person, they are half-painted and have been for months with no clear timeline on when the job may be finished. Also the facilities are filthy, the stairs are covered in trash and the elevators are often littered with animal urine/feces."
