"Ok, so we made reservations at 8:30 on a tuesday night. First, there are multiple platforms they use for reservations but the platforms don’t seem to be connected? We used resy and requested a bar seating. But when we arrived we were informed that they used opentable for bar seating mainly, so we were placed at a table instead. Luckily for us, the two who reserved a bar seat on opentable wanted the table instead so we were offered their seats, which we gladly took. We had the 15 course, 85$ pp. It was underwhelming to say the least. Maybe our expectations were too high, but everything was mediocre. We got an extra appetizer, the scallop crudo which was $26. It was spicy and had 4 pieces it was good but not amazing. The miso soup was also okay, but it’s hard to mess up miso soup. Honestly, my friend and I were very hungry and it took 21 minutes for us to be served the first piece of fish and 3 minutes for the miso soup. Yes, I timed it. There was only one person on the floor and one chef so everything took longer than it had to be. Looking back, we should’ve just taken the table so we could’ve finished faster. The crispy tuna rice was delicious. Honestly, the best part of the course. The sea bream was okay, itayori was okay, everything was just okay. Nothing stood out. The panna cotta dessert was good though. Overall, everything was just sub-par. The service should’ve been better, the server and chef were nice but not great and slow. The food was okay, nothing special, like if I sliced it at home and put it over rice, it would’ve tasted the same. Cost us 125$ per person with tip."
"Hands down the best sushi place in NYC. I went on a Tuesday night, was greeted by charming and friendly and hospitable staff as well as the owner, Angel — and then enjoyed the most memorable dining experience I've had in the city. Each person in my group of 3 had the 18-course selection, and the sushi chefs prepared each item right before our eyes. Everything tasted so good and so fresh. I could tell immediately with the first bite that the courses were thoughtfully created. This place – the restaurant, decor, and the food — just exhibits so much attention to detail. I couldn't recommend this experience enough. And "experience" is the word for it; it's not just a meal. The excellent staff and chefs make sure of that. 10/10"
"Moko does not disappoint! All the great reviews were true. Every course is more delicious than the last! Sushi Chef Ben, explained every piece perfectly and made the experience all the more enjoyable. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for an amazing omakase experience."
"The food is tasty w/ decent quality but the hospitality….truly blows our mind. We ordered 15 courses but took an hour for us to get the first sets of nigiri and another hour for the half of the rest course. FYI, they give us a three people setting for party for four. We made a reservation a week before we visited there…. Most likely it’s not hard to find a better place, service, and nice table arrangement in NYC with same amount of price."
