"We did not get the omakase option to try more items and that was a good choice for us. All the raw fish options and hand rolls were decent but nothing impressed us. The miso black cod was very good and so was the bacon hot stone rice."
"I don't typically leave reviews but I feel like others need to know that this place is awful. I've never been so disappointed by a restaurant in my entire life. I've been to many omakase places in NYC and this is by far the worst spot. Fish is awful quality and drowned in salty sauces to hide the taste. Texture of the fish is firm like it got left in the fridge for a few days. Sushi rice is stale. No ginger is given to palate cleanse. Even the matcha ice cream tasted freezer burnt. Atmosphere wise it's very crowded and loud - couldn't hear what the servers were saying, could barely hear across the table. Do not come here."
"Had a nice date night here. The restaurant itself it’s beautiful along with the lovely service. The food was great especially the nigiri and scallop risotto. There were some items I wouldn’t order again just because of my taste, but if sounds appealing I would give it a shot."
"Our recent visit to Domodomo in Manhattan surpassed all expectations, delivering a dining experience that was both accommodating and indulgent. The staff's flexibility was evident as they seamlessly adjusted our reservation due to subway delays, setting the tone for the evening. The sushi, including Hand Rolls and Nigiri, was remarkably fresh, and the Tuna Cones were a delightful surprise. The Hot Udon with Washu Beef was a spicy symphony of flavors, while the Miso Black Cod and Garlic Bacon Fried Rice with Onsen Egg were equally satisfying. The Documber cocktail added a refreshing touch to our meal, and we couldn't resist trying the Black Sesame Panna Cotta for dessert. Its deliciousness and perfectly sized portion provided a fitting conclusion to our culinary adventure, especially after a substantial main course. Throughout the evening, the staff's knowledge and enthusiasm enhanced the overall ambiance, creating an atmosphere that was both inviting and sophisticated. In summary, Domodomo stands out not only for its exceptional sushi and inventive dishes but also for its accommodating service and delightful desserts. A highly recommended spot for those seeking a memorable Japanese dining experience in Manhattan."
"Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. I ordered the sushi & hand-roll 4 course dinner. The 9 piece sushi entree was my favorite course. Each of the pieces was very experimental in terms of flavor; some of the most unique flavor combinations I’ve ever had in Japanese cuisine. My only complaint was that I wasn’t that full after I was finished. The portion sizes could be a bit larger."
