"Visited campground on Nov 16-19, 2023, had site B9. Only half the main loop was open and only partly filled even on the weekends. Literally started a fire ban the day we arrived, which sucked but we made the most of it. Bathrooms at the upper end of open space were closed, so they only had one big bathroom for the entire place. Seemed to be enough. Overall nice place and I'm sure hard to come by in the summer months."
"Great camping spot. I come here every year with my kids they love it. We do the horseback riding when we come"
"We had a major mix up as someone was in our reserved camping site when we arrived at almost dark after driving all day. The young lady did not know her campsite number so when the ranger supposedly looked up her last name, it was similar to mine. ID was never checked although I had reserved my site with an American the Beautiful lifetime pass as I am classified as a veteran with disabilities. When I approached the camper she was rude and stated she was not moving although I showed her my email confirmation. I went to the ranger station asking for assistance. The ranger made the camper move but no one apologized for the mix up. The ranger only made excuses and pointed out the similarity in our LAST name Our first names were no where similar. The moral to the story...Know your campsite number before you check in as not to inconvenience others. The park should check ID for ALL reservations."
"Smokemont campground is a great place to tent camp or bring a travel trailer. Bathrooms are decent but no shower at the time. We went during Christmas time and there wasn’t many people there. The creek can be heard all throughout and makes for a nice noise to sleep to. The trails around are not too bad and have decent views. Definitely one of my favorite campgrounds"
"Stayed in site c009 in early May 2023. Site is freshly paved and level side to side. Partially shaded and got enough sun for my solar panel to top off my battery. Site was right next to the river and nice to hear it running at night. Bathrooms were flush toilets only and good enough. Saw some elk roaming the campground. Early in season so only few loops were open, but campground was quiet. Would stay again."
