French Broad River Dog Park

"We love this dog park for our 5yo husky to play fetch and our 6mo lab mix to wrestle with other dogs. It's the biggest fenced park that we've found in Asheville. We've only encountered one aggressive dog in all of our visits and the owner removed their dog after a few scuffles before anything happened."

"The dog owners were so kind and patient with my young dogs. The other dogs were well behaved. Lots of space, great view of river, large and small dog areas, both with water. There were others who were traveling and made the stop at this nice park. Easy freeway access but my GPS missed the entrance and took me up the high road. Entrance at bottom of hill but dog park is straight down on the right. Clean restrooms at park entrance too."

"A weird place, honestly. It smells horrible and almost seems like they wanted to put the dog park in the corner for nobody to be bothered with. There is a loud bang noise that happens every time a truck goes over the bridge (I think) and the dogs get stressed. There is no water feature for dogs and so they've made their own puddle that's full of pee. It is just a large square with woodchips, in the shade, that smells bad, and intermittently has a loud bang noise. That's it. A dog attacked my dog and the owner didn't even speak to me about it after. Where I live, our dogs have access to grass and clean water features to cool down as well as mud and a bath area to clean off. There are rules posted and owners speak to each other. I'm just not used to this kind of atmosphere and it seemed really sad. Maybe Asheville could care more about pet companions."

"So nice! A little muddy the da we went. A short walk to New Belgium Brewery. Steps away from the river. Helpful if you see what my dog looked like after the park."

"It's a nice dog park with separate sections for big and small dogs. There are a couple of picnic tables and even some shade on hot summer days."
