"The cabin is just a few feet from the waters edge as described. The rocky river bank is breathtaking. From 10am-5pm the tubers enjoy the river and you can watch as they float by, join them if you care to (we did), or you can wait them out and have the river completely to yourself. We also had times where we kept the river to ourselves. It was wonderful. The cold mountain water followed by the hot tub is the perfect mix. You will not be disappointed. We intend to return with our family."
"Have stayed in these cabins over 10 times ( usually twice a year) love them. Great setting by river and close enough to run to Cades Cove and Pigeon Forge. Great people that run it and will help solve any issue you might have. Heading back this spring. Recommend it to all."
"This will be the 3rd time we've stayed in The Pioneer. We love the quiet, secluded area. It is right on the river. The hot tub makes it nice to sit and watch people fish and raft down the river. The cabin is clean and spacious. The bed is super comfortable. The owners are extremely friendly. Don't forget to read through the journals that are in the cabin. I usually spend the first night reading past experiences. It's interesting to see where the people come from and what they've done. Nice way to relax on the first night. Dianne & Mark Chapman"
"Cabin location was scenic and in a quiet community on the river as stated by the owners. The cabin we stayed in was called The Settler. It has been poorly maintained and the photos shown on line must have been taken when the cabins were new. The advertised screen porch had no screens, the porch furniture was in poor condition and had to be cleaned before you could sit. We were afraid to use the hot tub because it was dirty. They did provide a gas grill but only one burner actually worked. The area between the cabin and the river was not cleared as the photos led you to believe and there were trees and brush growing up to or over the windows and around the house. If you rent this cabin be sure to bring blankets and extra towels. The mattresses were adequate and their was adequate hot water for bathing. I will not rent again !"
"Homestead and Settler Cabins: I rented the cabins for my three sisters and myself with our husbands. I’ll start with the pros. We stayed in the above cabins September 28-October 5, 2018. Loved the structure of the cabins and the secluded area. Built well. The toilets, sinks, showers, refrigerator, were clean. Our cabin had a screened in backporch and a nice swing on the front porch. Could be very nice places to stay. Now for the cons. We stayed in the Homesteader. First of all the floors had not been swept or cleaned. Side Of the kitchen cabinet was mildewed. My husband bought a new clean broom and swept it out. Everything was dusty. The fan switches in the family rooms didn’t work.(the male owner was unconcerned). We stayed upstairs and my husband sit on the bed and the end flipped way up. One of the slats were missing. (The male owner said someone must’ve stole it.) he said he’d fix it(NOT). My husband went to Ace hardware and bought a wood slat and a handsaw and made a slat. We left it, against my wishes. In our cabin the furniture in the family room was worn out, completely. In the settler it was a little better. It was very hard to get off the furniture. Kitchen tables were dirty. All porch furniture was dirty and molded. Some seats busted on the rockers. Weeds and limbs growing up the side of the outside window screens. I’m very sorry to be so negative but everything is the truth. I hope the owners fix all of this because these are very nice solid wood log cabins. We won’t be staying there again unless things are changed and we do not recommend them to anyone else."
