"Pick pet partners if you want to waste your money. I had pet insurance through these people for a month after I adopted a couple cats. I started my policy in the morning and went to the vet that afternoon and pet partners said they wouldn't pay for anything since they started my policy coverage 1 day after I signed up, the day after my vet appointment. I had to return to the vet a few weeks later because one of my cat's conditions worsened and they said they wouldn't pay for any of this 2nd vet appointment because 'the initial symptoms for the illness began a day before the policy started' and this vet appointment and medicine were just an extension of that."
"We have had this insurance for our dogs for the past 3 years. Have to say they have been great for the most part. One suggestion. If you’re submitting claims for more than one animal make sure you ask your vet for completely separate bills. I’ve had two instances, one recently where I filed a claim and did not do that and they did not fully look through all the documentation and reimburse me fully. They only reimbursed expenses for one dog. The online claim submission system really needs a note section so that something like this can be explained. Or whoever is reviewing the claim needs to look over it better and verify the documentation. I submitted two separate claims with the same paperwork which clearly shows the individual dogs names and the services that were rendered and paid for. It’s very time consuming when you have to call and explain everything again."
"Use a more established and reputable company for your pet's insurance. Horrendous and basically non-existent customer service. Literally a ZERO, no stars deserved. Have now been waiting over 3 weeks for a "call back within 24 hours" from "Isaac, Tiffany and/or James" and their "supervisors". Sounds like a horrible 90's boy band with amateur guest appearances. Sure, the plan might be somewhat reliable but if you have any questions or need anything that is out of the ordinary and not straight forward, good luck! Too much work for their incompetent highly turned-over employees and "adjusters" apparently. Spend your time and money elsewhere on a policy with a company that will go above and beyond for your pet. Pay the extra couple of dollars if you have to, it will be worth it to save you the trouble of dealing with idiots. Two years with this company was more than enough of a window into their practices, high rate increases on a yearly basis and policies that could never be plainly explained the same way twice. Questions that their representatives should be able to research and answer during a single phone call are few and far between."
"Been with them for almost two years, paid for the best policy for my cat. Added another cat, the website or app made it seem like they were bundled together under one policy and one premium. Now that something has happened to both cats, I am learning that the bundle was for show and that both have their own separate deductibles. Likewise, they didn't cover one of my cats having an infected tooth removed, and referred to it as "Teeth Cleaning". Didn't realize a surgical operation including anesthesia was considered a "wellness visit", or "teeth cleaning". Seriously, do not get a policy with these people. Customer service is rude and they offer no options or help in any situation. Cancelling my policy today."
"The truth is, these plans are great early on to get past the puppy stages when your dog could present with nasty illnesses. But if you deposited the premium into a savings account for your pup, you’d have ample funds to cover health emergencies or illnesses later. My premium increased year over year and ultimately by age 10 I was paying nearly $5k for 2 dogs. Over their lifetime, I could have put $40k into a savings account, earning interest. I have been able to collect, at best, $5k of claims in ten years. They denied claims based on “congenital issues” like breed-specific ailments. That is 75% of the reason that I got insurance for these dogs! My advice is to #1 - get the office visit coverage. If your dog gets sick, every visit isn’t covered to deal with that illness - only the tests. So if your dog gets cancer or has an issue that takes many follow up visits - they add up at $200-300 a pop. They’ll only cover the tests. The office visit add-on is less than $20 a month, so it’s worth it. You can add it once your dog is diagnosed with a problem. Add it that day!! Otherwise you’ll pay $100-300 per visit for the “exam” fee every time your dog is seen, even if it’s for an ongoing problem like cancer. Also choose nothing less than the 80% coverage. But finally, the best advice is to just put the premium into a savings account. If you don’t use it, then you can spend it however else you please!! Just be disciplined and make sure you do it. Unexpected vet bills can be devastating!!"
