"The policy exclusions are ridiculous, it's basically a catastrophic health insurance plan. Anything else that could potentially happen to your pet isn't covered. They also stretch out the claims process claiming they need to see a final diagnosis when it's always, clearly laid out in the claims notes. I've really lost confidence in the AKC due to this. A complete waste of money. You're better off checking with your regular vet to see if they offer options for insurance."

"This was my first experience with pet insurance. I would not recommend this company. After paying $100 a month for the past year, I submitted a claim today for vaccinations. Claim was denied as vaccinations were done 2 days too soon. Unbelievable. Customer service was not helpful as I was only told to read the policy. This did not sit well with me as I do not have faith that they would be in my corner when I really need them. Policy cancelled."

"My wife & I have been members of AKC insurance for over a year now. Let me start with the basics, we buy insurance so that when an emergency situation does happen, we are expected to be covered and have peace of mind. Not in our case, our dog needed an emergency endoscopy in a life or death situation, and we were left with a $4500 vet bill. Suffice to say we were left with our mouths open to see that we only got reimbursed $500 dollars of that for a legitimate medical emergency, that of which should absolutely be covered. We will be referring others to insurance companies who actually pay out for medical emergencies, and will also be switching our business elsewhere. Extremely disappointing service."

"This is another insurance rip off. We submitted a claim for dental surgery and tooth extraction for our Shih Tzu and AKC lost the first submission. By the time we realized that this had not been reimbursed, apparently the time had lapsed. When my wife called they basically told her it's too bad, you're too late. We also submitted other claims for other vet visits and medications and they were also denied. So basically we've been paying premiums for 2+ years and have yet to be reimbursed. I would NOT recommend AKC insurance. Terrible customer service, terrible process, and basically a waste of money. If you want to pay monthly premiums and get "talk to the paw" when you submit a claim, go with AKC. Otherwise, there are other more reputable companies to work with."

"My German shepherd puppy unexpectedly needed emergency surgery while we were out of state, and it required going to two separate veterinary facilities. My dog is doing great now, and thanks to AKC Pet Insurance, I am not currently in debt! It was a VERY expensive surgery. They navigated the multiple layers of paperwork and bills and vet reports and fairly reimbursed me with minimal wait via direct deposit. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and professional, and there was no waiting on hold to speak to a human. I absolutely love AkC insurance and won’t ever be without it. Highly recommend."
