"Yeah, I agree with the other poor reviews regarding this company. Horace Mann is a pretty bad company when it comes to customer service. The main turnoff for me was the Claims Consultant Michael Zelenski. So I asked to speak to his supervisor and the Supervisor Jeff Strickland wasn't too much better. They do have some good employees there though, but overall I would avoid this company. It wasn't a good experience for me."

"We have used this company for 2 years for our retirement savings accounts. In those two years, we had one agent who really didn’t care much at all about helping or guiding us unless we had a decent sized check to hand over, then he was all over helping us. He left or was dismissed earlier this year and the only way we found out was after multiple attempts over 6 months to contact him by email or text, I called the company who ONLY THEN informed me he no longer worked there as of a few months prior. I was told we’d be getting a letter from corporate about this because they couldn’t send anything out on their end due to company policy, which 2 months later still hasn’t arrived. In that same call, I spoke to Joyce Tice personally, asking her to increase my husband’s paycheck deductions. She promised me it would be done immediately. It’s been 2 months since that call, and no changes have been made to his account. A family member used this company and Joyce was unpleasant when they decided to move their money elsewhere, and withheld information until “she had time to better review the accounts.” I’m hoping we sing have that same trouble when we move ours soon. The only reason I’m giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because on the insurance side we’ve had very pleasant interactions and their premiums tend to be a bit cheaper than elsewhere. Granted, we’ve never had to use the insurance, so hopefully we don’t find out it’s a nightmare as the finance department has been."

"This is the worst insurance company I have ever encountered. Save yourself a headache and find someone else. Their ability to get anything done is non-existent. They are irresponsible, lazy, and crude. If you want to pay for a policy that's $200 or more a month go ahead with this expensive for no reason company. They won't help you when you actually get in an accident. The adjuster Chris Phinney won't communicate properly with you. He won't do everything possible to accurately represent you. The head of it all Countz, Court, Calliele.... whatever his name is...doesn't believe his office is in the wrong when they are, so he enables all the lazies who work for him. He seems to have no clue what's going on in his office, it's sad really. Geico really can save you more on car insurance. They also DO THEIR JOB."

"Customer service is good and its nice to know you can always get someone on the phone. But I felt like I was always being sold on something, and wasn't always taken seriously. Things move slower and written communication could be better."
