"My care with the Charlotte athlete was so great! The team all around is so kind and accommodating to my schedule changes, Dr Ells was so knowledgeable and even consulted the other PT at the practice to help make sure he was looking at my case from every perspective. Along my journey, I also happened to strain my neck and Dr. Ells took an extra day to treat me for this as well. After I moved to another state, Dr. Ells kept our last visits going with virtual visits and a follow up plan that I could keep working on even after our visits ended. This team is so great, thanks so much CLT Athlete!"
"I cannot recommend The Charlotte Athlete more! I have had 5 surgeries on one knee which has caused a lot of issues on that side of my lower half. I went to see Dr. Mike for a left hip issue and he immediately took the time to try to figure out the root cause of the problem. It is a very different experience than most physical therapy places where the therapist is working with multiple people at one time. It is focused 1x1 work. They really work to understand your goals and get you there!"
"A friend referred me to The Charlotte Athlete when I was experiencing some nagging pain in my elbow in doing every day tasks. Since then, I've seen 2 different therapists at Charlotte Athlete for 2 different issues - tennis elbow and an ankle sprain. Dr. Mike and Dr. Leah were both extra attentive in listening to my concerns, determining the underlying cause of my pain, and recommending a treatment plan that not only fixes the problem, but prevents it from recurring. Appointments at other clinics I've been to in the past felt very rushed compared to the hour long appointments at The Charlotte Athlete, which provide sufficient time to assess progress and prescribe a tailored plan. Being a distance runner, I'm constantly experiencing some sort of ache or pain unrelated to the injuries I was having treated and both therapists suggested other preventative exercises to address those as well. I can't recommend The Charlotte Athlete enough!"
"I pulled my lower back doing deadlifts at my Crossfit gym, and my back was hurting for quite a few months before I did anything about it. I was avoiding lots of specific exercises that I knew aggravated my back, and was unable to push myself during workouts, or increase the difficulty/weight of the lifting I was doing in the gym. A few of my classmates recommended The Charlotte Athlete as a great PT clinic that could help me fix my back issues. I did 7 sessions with them, and my back now feels like it did before I pulled it. The staff at the Charlotte Athlete are always kind and professional, and they do a great job of explaining why they're asking you to do certain exercises, and what those exercises will help with. I was also able to get feedback on my deadlift form (since that movement was the one that pulled my back), which they corrected and explained how to ensure I wouldn't pull my back again. My experience doing PT with the Charlotte Athlete helped with my back pain and allowed me to push myself in the gym again, but it also gave me tools, stretches, and habits that I can use to keep my back healthy and tackle any similar issues that may appear in the future."
"I can’t recommend Dr. Mike and the team at The Charlotte Athlete enough. Several months ago I fell off a horse and broke my leg. I’m an ICU nurse and live a very active lifestyle. I was wildly concerned about having surgery and the lasting effects it was going to have on my ankle/leg mobility. I knew I was not going to go to a traditional PT. I was searching for someone who would get me back into the shape that I was in previously and be able to do all of the activities that I love. Dr. Mike took the time to understand what I would like to be able to do again with my ankle, especially with competitive horseback riding. He was able to tailor to requirements and got me (literally) back in the saddle much faster than I thought I was going to be. With each session, I felt stronger and more confident that I would continue to have an active life. He provided me with specialized “homework” between sessions that contributed to the healing process. After completing my post-surgical PT sessions, I feel great! I can walk, run, go to Pilates, ride my horse, and I will be trying to ski/snowboard in the upcoming weeks out West. I continue to do the exercises that Dr. Mike taught to me to continue the healing process and rebuilding my strength. This has truly been a unique experience. I can’t imagine going anywhere else for physical therapy. Go and visit the team over at The Charlotte Athlete, you won’t regret it! Plus, you’ll be greeted by Moose who is the sweetest pup."
