"The HLCDC is a beautiful facility designed to enhance children's development in all areas of learning. Such great news that the center is now operated by Dixon Academy, who has been a positive presence in Charlotte for years."
"There are very few teachers there that were good for my daughter. I enjoyed the ones she had. Staffing is extremely short. There is barely anyone readily available when you really need it. My daughter has went missing inside a therapist room where she ran off from the play area, locked herself in the room, and wasn't noticed or looked for for 30 minutes. I found out about the incident two weeks after it happened. I gave them an updated copy of her shot record and when I later came to them for a copy they couldn't find the records. They put it on a new staff member to find it like she knew where it was and told me they would call me about it and never did. The people can be nice but things are poorly managed. It's not worth the price you pay whether it's income based or not."
"BEWARE OF THIS FACILITY if you are searching for child care for your child. This facility is considered still practically brand new and the only thing that it has good to offer is the newness of the building; nothing more! 1.) They are NEVER fully staffed. Their employee turnover rate is extremely high. My children attended this facility for a little under 2 1/2 months and went through over 6 teachers and based on personal encounters majority of the teachers were only there for the check; there were only an extremely small handful that you could tell were genuinely there because they love children. 2.) Every day that we picked our children up; they were extremely soiled with urine or poop (we would get there around 5:30 pm and their last changing would be around 3:00 pm). We would have to go straight home because it would leak through their clothing and also cause serious diaper rashes. 3.) Within the 2 1/2 months my children encountered more than 10 incidents which even started on their very first week. I would also be told to sign and that I would receive a copy on the next business day. However; upon taking them out of the facility they were only able to produce about 5 copies of incidents! How ironic is that unless they are trying to cover up some things! 4.) Majority of the staff are extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and lack proficient CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. Speaking with higher authority such as the Directors, Assistant Directors, and etc are a complete waste of time. They tell you to speak with them and voice your concerns and that “they’ll have training on it” but nothing ever seems to really change and then your made out to be the “complaining parent”! Mind you we have sat down with them on numerous occasions. 5.) I walked in one day on one of the teachers speaking to my child in an unprofessional manner; so that made me then began to think what else could possibly be going on at this facility. 6.) On my children’s first day of school we were informed to bring 2 sets of change of clothes; which we did. We came to pick them up one day and one of our children (has very sensitive skin) had on another child’s clothing but yet they had their own clothing in their cubby. Then about a month later; my other child had on someone else’s things and we were told that they didn’t have any change of clothes; meaning someone had either taken them or someone had put them on another child. I was under the impression that labeled cubbies were so that everyone’s items could stay separated and organized. 7.) The establishment states that they are open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm but the staff don’t really get there until after 8:00 am. One teacher even had the audacity to ask me if I could bring them in later to accommodate their schedule (the second week of them starting). 8.) None of the protocols seems to be being followed at this establishment. I have spoken with other parents (current and previous) and past staff and none of them have had anything positive to say about this establishment. Not to mention that this is a new establishment that should be flourishing but yet they’re not and not to mention that they’ve also lost their “Head Start” Program. Things like this should not be happening especially at a “brand new establishment”; let alone any establishment dealing with children. It has come to the point where other parents are starting to complain about some of these similar issues but feel as though their voice may not be heard and from the looks of it; as long as no one’s pay check is short or incorrect; things will continue to be unheard! Whatever you do...until this place is shutdown or under new management; if you love and care about your child(ren)’s well-being then refrain from sending them here. Believe me when I say that my children have suffered enough for them all!"
"This center is low staffed and the children are not monitored properly. My daughter had her hair pulled out by another child and she has a bald spot. I went to observe her a few days before this incident and my child was digging inside the trash putting things into her mouth while the caretaker watched her. They advised that they would look at cameras to get to the bottom of both incidents and I was told that they were having troubles with the video systems. In the process of hiring more staff, but I'd rather not!!!!!! Never Again!!!!"
