"I can't ever seem to get my Medicaid case worker"
"Tried to get full coverage during these hard times. They give me a number to a support line that doesn’t exist. Also gave me a number to a woman who’s not taking calls because she “gets too many”. I can’t go to my doctor’s appointments. Thanks dss. Helpful as always."
"Sheila, the supervisor over Medicaid is highly unprofessional and unbelievably rude! I was SHOCKED with the things that came out of her mouth as I voiced my questions and concerns. She said to me “Well, I guess you can pick between your insurance and your child’s insurance” as if any parent is going to willingly choose their selves over their child! This was in regards to a child support issue concerning Medicaid as I didn’t want to charge my boyfriend with child support simply because we don’t live in the same household right now. His house is currently under construction and unsafe for our five month old child to reside in. When I explained that my boyfriend does provide assurance with our child such as diapers and other necessities, she said “Well that’s great and dandy that he buys diapers but children have other needs aside from just diapers” AS IF I AM UNAWARE OF WHAT IT TAKES TO RAISE A CHILD WHEN I HAVE ONE OF MY OWN. I was appalled by her behavior, and think anyone working with the public and having to answer questions and acknowledge their concerns should have to do so in a respectful manner. I have had great experiences with people in the Wic office, and those handling food benefits, but the Medicaid side needs A LOT of work, and should honestly have to undergo training on how to conduct yourself with the public! I have never been made to feel so disrespected, belittled, and attacked."
"I've had some very good and helpful people at WIC and the health department lately. The Medicaid side of things could could work on communication and their website side of things, but I have always been treated fairly and nicely. They work hard to help those who need it the most."
"Impossible too reach the Child Support Office. Phone on continuous answering machine. Messages are apparently not picked up or addressed. Over the course of 3 days, my daughter left 7 messages with Polly Bradley in Child Support Enforcement that were never returned or apparently not listened to. She was alerting her that she needed to reschedule her appointment due to her daughter's birth certificate not arriving. It did arrive 3 days later. Instead she got a letter announcing her Medicaid is being cancelled due to lack of cooperation. Emphasis seems to be on cancelling as many as possible instead of helping families in need and who are qualified. We deserve better. (Former State Welfare Supervisor)"
