"Three points for the nostalgia and the days when big book stores were filled with magic. It's the same bookstore, just the magic of big book stores is gone for me. This store is clean and the staff was helpful but not intrusive. They have a really good board game section for adults and lots of hardcover roleplay books. The manga section is limited but that's my only complaint."
"Just went into Barnes and Noble Arden to return a gift my mother bought for my intellectually disabled son for Christmas. It was a box of five Harry Potter puzzles, but ALL of the pieces from all five puzzles were in ONE bag, no separation, literally one bag. I would have had to sift through a thousand pieces separating them into separate bags before even giving him a single puzzle to work on. I brought my son with me to pick something else out as I called ahead, but accidentally called the Asheville store which said no problem, bring it down and get store credit. However, Barnes and Noble Arden was SO abrasive when saying no IN PERSON that it made my adult intellectually disabled son have a meltdown and cry on the spot. Pretty sure some sensitivity training is definitely in order for the male staff member that "helped us". I don't know if he was the manager on duty, but they are NOT sensitive to the intellectually disabled population and it was extremely disheartening. Again, sensitivity training is definitely in order and I will be calling to make sure that happens."
"Tried to exchange a Christmas gift for the correct volume and it couldn't be done even though the book was unused and still sealed. This corporate need to track the purchase by the in-store card or the credit card is either caused by dishonest people or greedy corporations. Either way it left an unhealthy feeling for me over the whole company. I don't I'll ever go back. I think this is why we should go to locally owned stores."
"Stewart, Mary and Mike were amazing! A friend and I were having issues with a rewards account and gift card that were both done at a different location. They were so patient and kind working with us to get everything figured out. We were even offered complimentary Starbucks drinks for all the trouble even though none of our issues were their fault."
"Probably one of the best stock variety of book/magazine titles, vinyl 331/3 rpm, and videos I’ve encountered at a retail media store in recent memory. Semmed to have current editions for topics I sought. Shelves orderly and book cases arranged for easy access and walkways. We actually did buy a few items as gifts which usually we don’t find anything of interest."
