"From day one the staff has been kind courteous and understanding. The team did my diagnosis and then attacked my esophageal cancer with a vengeance . They have always kept me informed and have followed up with me if I have questions or concerns. It’s been 6 years but I still want to come to MSK for my follow ups. Simply the best"
"My strain if esophageal cancer was given less than 5 years of life after detection for 81% of patients. In blatant words more than 4 out of 5 don't live 5 years. I'm still on this planet after 5.5 years and I am not that young. Those extra years I own to Yelena Janjigian, her artful skills in medicine, attention to detail and desire to keep me alive. I greatly appreciate opportunity to meet my new grandchildren, play with them and see them grow. What a generous gift for me!"

"November of 2019 my grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer and being treated at Sloan for palliative radiation. We always went as a family, we would into music playing, coffee tea, crackers, made a sad time feel good. During that time, I went to my gynecologist who performed an internal and found a mass, he sent me for an MRI. Sloan in Commack was so kind to my Grandfather I decided to schedule my MRI with radiation in Commack the results came back, ended up in Dr. Rustum's office, got me in quickly and made me feel super safe, my surgery was scheduled for December 4th which is my birthday. Well December 4, 2019, a mass the size of an orange was removed from my ovaries, the mass was carcinoma. Naturally the mass was sent pathology, results came back the mass was originated in my GI area and jumped into my ovaries which made my mass malignant. Well from that point Dr. Rustum scheduled every test under the sun looking for a mass in my GI area and nothing was found. December 2019 was the month and year I was diagnosed with stage four cancer of unknown primary. My husband and family just broke, and I had to keep it together for myself, my husband and two young children. Something came over me, was like a power I have never felt before, never googled, ask anyone for an opinion, only spoke with my doctors and new I could do this. Went for my port January 2020. Dr. Rustum referred me to Dr. Janjigian, my new hero, who was treating me for ovarian and GI cancer, started chemo February, what a ride, I guess no pain no gain. My fifth treatment was coming up and covid hit, treatment paused for a couple of months, the entire world was burning and fighting, all we had was fear. When treatment started was at Sloan every other week, chemo was three days. The staff got me through the hardiest time in my life, the conversation with doctors and nurses, made me feel safe to be around others, they had no fear which made me fearless, always so happy, the Disney World of Hospitals and especially the warm blankets during chemo and scans (felt like I was at the spa). So many memories I could go on forever, I recently moved to Florida from NY and scan every four months and once a year endo/colonoscopy and mamo, I will never give up Dr. Janjigian, Dr. Rustum and Sloan Kettering. Thank you for saving my life. My best friend works at Sloan as an NP Kara Singer and without her recommendation for Dr. Rustum I do not think I would be here today."
"Dr Janjigian is a kind, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable physician. She has access to the latest treatments in gastric cancer and has helped me to stay ahead of my disease progression while living an excellent quality of life. She and her office staff see each patient as an individual rather than merely a number in a study. I am so glad that I have her as a partner in my fight against this disease."
