Reviews
"All of the reviews noting poor service and attitude are pretty spot on… however, they’re in the neighborhood and wanted to support a local business… my mistake. All in all, the entire team was rather rude, unhelpful and the lumber was overpriced… I’ll make a further trip elsewhere next time."
"Excellent staff at Prince. One staff member in particular, Bastian Ramirez, constantly goes above and beyond when sourcing materials, organizing deliveries, and always responsive through email, text and phone. Service like this makes our work as general contractors easier, especially when material orders are on time and correct. Highly recommend Prince lumber and Bastian R sales rep for all your hardware and material needs."
"The team at Prince Lumber are incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and accommodating. There are very few materials that I have needed, that they did not have either in stock or just a few days from being available. My favorite thing about Prince is the customer service team, Bastian Ramirez *Basti, is my go to! AJ Crespo can also answer any all questions you might have on materials. We are involved with multi million dollar projects and I credit them for helping making my jobs go smoother, efficiently and within budget! Prince will deliver next day too!"
"The material is good grade priced well, but for some reason, I can almost never ask about new pricing, because they always hang up. Impossible unless you walk up to the store or call them the time they "feel" like answering your questions."
"Calling out Ben Lambright. Rude, obnoxious, and laughed me out of the store! I called in advance and confirmed multiple times the dimensions I was looking to get a plywood sheet ripped & cut to. (Mind you, I've gotten this exact job fulfilled numerous times by Eighteen Lumber down in East Brunswick, NJ, who are excellent, but I've since moved to the city.) I was told with confidence that they could do it, that it would only cost a certain amount, and that it could be done that day so long as I arrived before 4pm. I made the mistake of not asking for a name over the phone, and rushed down to Prince Lumber of 47th St, arriving around 3:35pm. Walking over to the front desk, I approached Ben. He was on the phone, so I waited patiently. From the onset of our interaction, he treated me like a lesser person- I assume because I'm young, and therefore must not know what a saw looks like or how one works... He laughed at me, called me a liar, and 'explained' things to me repeatedly in a very condescending manner, despite me assuring him I understood what he was saying. I even compromised, saying I was happy to pay more than was quoted on the phone, if the job could be done that day like I was promised, since it was about a 40 minute trip down. But no. He even ushered over the manager (Alex Crespo) who, before even hearing Ben speak, nodded and laughed in my face as well. Ben asked me to leave the store. I made sure to get his name before I did. I understand there was likely a miscommunication and that the individual with whom I spoke over the phone repeatedly told me yes possibly without understanding what I was asking for. I wish I had gotten their name. But regardless, to be treated the way I was treated by Ben and be LAUGHED out of the store for asking for something I know to be reasonable... I will never return. I took my business to Garfield Lumber & Millworks in Garfield, NJ who couldn't have been nicer, and who did 3x what I was asking from Prince Lumber... for 15 bucks on the spot. Lumber yards and hardware stores are a dime a dozen in the tristate area. Take your business to a place that deserves it. Don't take it to Prince Lumber."
