Indian River Park South Side is a newly-renovated park located at 2003 Rokeby Avenue in Chesapeake, Virginia. This tourist attraction is a hub of activity, offering a variety of daily programming and activities primarily tailored for the "55 and Better" senior population. The Rokeby Center within the park is open for classes, programs, and rentals by reservation. Memberships are required for access, with no charge for Chesapeake citizens aged 55 and older (non-residents can obtain membership for $50 per year). "A well-maintained park with fun trails! Definitely worth a visit!"
"My daughter took me to a little parking lot of Indian River Rd to go "hiking", I was sure that this tiny patch of woods would bore me AND the grandkids (girls age 2 & 7) but I was pleasantly surprised! The trails were limited but well maintained and had enough variety to keep the kids entertained. We didn't bring our bikes, but drove by the bike trail area and I'm looking forward to checking those trails out as well. I also found a playground associated with the park on the other side of the highway and it was fantastic! They actually had a "Mommy & Me" swing as well as regular and child swings. Climbing areas, a merry go round that worked like the teacup ride at a carnival, slides and coordination play areas. It was nice and much more than I expected from a roadside park!"
"I brought my dog here for a nature walk. It started raining but the leave coverage did an excellent job keeping us dry during the light rain. There are little name placards to identify some of the trees and trail markings to follow for different trails. It's a nice quiet and peaceful place to walk."
