She is really easy to work with, super knowledgeable, and a great addition to S&S properties. I have enjoyed my time in this apartment so far, and have renewed my lease a couple of times now!"

"Where do I start? I'll start by saying if I could leave 0 stars, I would! I was a resident at Ancient Oaks Apts just over 2 years, Ancient Oaks felt like a prison. My payments were always on time, and I left the apartment in better condition than they gave it to me. I will do my best to include every problem with management and lack of effort management shows to its residents. My wife called management multiple times about Black mold in our A/C units (no central A/C) building 2515 #404. Management informed us they would replace the units on May 15th as they make orders then knowing we have 2 children. Management absolutely does not care about their residents and will have no problem advising you to leave. Shootings happen in the neighborhood, homeless people hang out in the laundry room, and they use the outlets to charge. I even walked in on a man washing himself in the sink. Some residents will remove your clothing from the laundry and leave there's for hours. The machines hardly work, and one of the dryers burns your clothes and trips the fire alarm. I brought this to the attention of management, and they simply removed the detector. The building doesn't provide pest control even at request, so no matter your remedy, roaches are prevalent. Rats are everywhere. My cats killed 2 rats in our 4 floor apartment. Residents leave their trash outside dumpsters, and it obligates a really nice maintenance man to clean up after people every morning. If you have plans for the day, be sure to arrive before 2 pm or you will not find parking. On many occasions, I requested parking permits, and management refused to offer them. I even volunteered to purchase permits for the complex, but I was denied. Another apartment building next to Ancient Oaks provides permits, so naturally, their guests fill the parking spaces for Ancient Oaks. Don't take any chances if you can't park in the barely visible "white lines" you're taking a walk. If you're lucky, you will only walk 5 minutes to get home. Our disabled neighbor was forced to walk from wherever she found parking cause the complex has NO Disabled parking spaces! The power goes out almost every storm, and the building has control of the heat. No power is no heat. The heating system is a steam boiler, and it fails often. Last winter, we had at least 5 days of no heat, and that forced me to purchase space heaters to warm my family during the winter. All of the drains clog up and need daily plunging to allow some kind of water flow. The rent drop-off is a slot in the wall located at one of their other properties with a sign that says Ancient Oaks drop in slot don't come to window. I made 25 on time payments and didn't receive one receipt, and I was even threatened with eviction if I filled up a water jug to go to work. Avoid this junky, careless, neglectful, mold, rat, roach and disgusting cesspool of a company and complex. Get away as fast as you possibly can!"

"Carlin springs apartments on the corner of pine and carlin is an all time terrible complex Rats infest the parking lot in the back getting into dumpsters and chewing through vehicles. The dumpster has been destroyed by a fire so rats now have free reign. the front office never responds to emails The dumpster houses all of the rats and is beyond damaged at this point The walls have mold behind them they paint over Things are constantly stolen from the building and there seems to be the only place that has crime in all of arlington overall slumlords"

"I don’t understand all of the bad reviews. I currently rent from S&S in Arlington in the Courthouse neighborhood and have had nothing but pleasant interactions with the office staff. They quickly got my lease set up. Maintenance requests are quickly responded to and taken care of. No pest issues at all in my apartment."

"I applied with S&S in order to live at the Swansen Complex in Arlington, VA and received notice of my application review promptly. Once approved, Griselda and Cynthia were extremely communicative and responded to every question I had with a timely and positive demeanor. Griselda even went out of her way to get video of the unit I was interested in. Ultimately, I decided to go with another property in DC that provided a better logistical fit. I highly recommend that you give Swansen Apartments a try. Know that you are in good hands with Griselda and Cynthia assisting you out of their Falls Church, VA office. Best, -Kevin"
