Westminster Child Care Center
About the Business
Westminster Child Care Center, located at 450 Rugby Road in Charlottesville, Virginia, is a non-profit school dedicated to providing high-quality childcare and early education for children in the community. Our staff salaries are funded by tuition fees, allowing us to retain quality teachers who are dedicated to the well-being and development of each child in our care.
We have two full-time floating teachers who provide extra support to classrooms, ensuring lower teacher-to-child ratios and allowing our educators time for lesson planning. Our teachers are well-versed in the Milestones of Child Development and Virginia's Foundation Blocks for Early Learning, using tools such as Teachstone's CLASS and the Environmental Rating Scales to continually enhance their teaching methods and provide enriching learning experiences for our students.
At Westminster Child Care Center, we believe in fostering a supportive teaching community, where teachers co-mentor one another and work together to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for all children. Our goal is to provide a safe and engaging space where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

"We are so grateful to be part of the WCCC family. Our kids' teachers have supported learning and development, giving them room to be individuals while also learning to be a classroom friend. They communicate with us as parents and have made extremely helpful recommendations. Every teacher, staff member, and volunteer has loved our child as their own family. We have enjoyed getting to know other parents as well. We really appreciate how WCCC works hard to create a diverse environment with their tiered tuition structure. While it's hard to be away from our kids all day while we work, we cannot imagine a better environment for them to be in - they love going to school. We recommend WCCC to all other families in Charlottesville."
"When my family first decided to send our child to school, it was incredibly emotional especially since he was so young. However, the teachers in the infant room were phenomenal and truly made us feel as though they were taking care of our child as if he was their own. On top of that, they made us feel incredibly welcome as if we had been apart of the WCCC family for years! Now that he's grown older, my feeling towards the community and teachers have only gotten stronger. My child often doesn't want to leave when I come to pick him up, which is a testament to how much he loves going there."
"Our two daughters have attended WCCC for the past two years and I cannot say enough good things about our experience there. It is play-based learning with LOTS of outdoor time, messy play, and all of the good things you want for your preschooler. They come home telling us about playing with worms, finger painting, planting, etc. - and not having to pack lunches or snack is a huge help. We're very grateful for WCCC and the quality care our kids have received!"
"My son attends WCCC and I always feel fully confident in the teachers! He smiles and laughs as soon as we pull into the WCCC parking lot in the mornings--he loves school! He is showered with love, given a variety of new sensory experiences, open-ended art exploration, warm social interactions, taken outside daily, as well as provided healthy and diverse meals. It is helpful to not have to worry about packing breakfast/lunch/snack! We know and love all the staff at WCCC and love the consistency in caregivers as many teachers have been there for 10+ years! It feels like family!!"
"My daughter has been attending WCCC for two years and she loves it! Teacher turnover is practically nonexistent which is has been essential to both parent and child comfort. Knowing most of the faces and names around the school makes you feel like family. Her teachers are both caring and professional, with an emphasis on caring. All of the teachers are experienced, kind and easy to get along with. Most importantly, they know how to help bring out the best in your child. My daughter tends to be shy, but at WCCC she has learned to speak up, share her ideas and to interact confidently with adults and peers. I cannot say enough great things about WCCC."
