About the Business
Off the Floor Pittsburgh is an institution located at 901 Allegheny Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. They aim to help individuals and families experiencing furniture poverty by providing gently used furniture free of charge to those in need. By donating your used furniture, you can make a significant impact on someone's life by providing them with a warm and welcoming home environment.
Their mission is to reduce the pain and indignity of extreme poverty in the greater Pittsburgh area by recycling and delivering furniture to families in need. You can drop off your items at their warehouse on the North Side or request a donation pickup online. Once your donation is received, it will be cleaned and prepared for donation to a person in need.
Off the Floor supports individuals and families in vulnerable situations, including women and children leaving shelters, people transitioning from homelessness, and refugees to Pittsburgh. They are always looking for volunteers to assist in their warehouse with tasks such as assembling and cleaning furniture.
By donating to Off the Floor, you are helping to give families the opportunity to create a comfortable living space where they can feel safe and welcome. Your generosity will not only strengthen families but also help build communities where everyone belongs.

"Tgey pick up free within 10 miles. If you are outside of 10 miles, they make you pay for the full milage instead of the difference. I find that to be a little odd when 10 miles are free. Plus, you are GIVING them the donation."
"These folks are professional, customer oriented and incredibly savvy, not to mention hard working. Sign up was a breeze. They called day of to let me know when they would arrive, they walked through my furniture and pointed out what they could and couldnt take. Items quickly disappeared into their truck and Will and Rick were just plain good folks. That's hard to come by these days, and seems to be available in spades with this company. Even the folks you talk to over the phone are extremely pleasant. Overall: a very positive experience and I will highly recommend them to anyone moving in the area and wanting to help make a difference. Got furniture that you dont need anymore? Don't delay, contact Off the Floor!"
"We arranged to have these folks come to pick up a bedroom set. We described it at length to the woman we spoke with on the phone and even sent photos to Steven. The guys got here and refused to take the bedroom set. I wouldn’t mind so much if we had not gotten confirmation from two people (one of whom is the “boss”). I think the two movers just did not want to have to take the furniture down the stairs. BTW it is a lovely set of furniture that someone would have loved. Showing my age, that is no way to run a railroad, or any other company."
"Place is a joke. Got an email at the end of the second day of a 3 day pick up window telling me that they are "full" of the items we have to donate so they won't be picking the stuff up. That may be the case, but that seems silly considering the amount of people in need.... and that's only hurting those people because these items can no longer be kept and are now being smashed up for trash pickup next week. Good riddance."
"What a fantastic organization, submitted a request for pick up, very smooth and professional process. The drivers arrived right on time, and were extremely courteous. Highly recommend this organization and the good that they do for the community."
