"RENTER BEWARE: I lived here from Fall 2022 to Fall 2023. This place has roaches, ants, and fruit flies. My repeated attempts for maintenance requests regarding this issue seem to fall on deaf ears. I know for a fact that other apartments also had the same issues because I talked to other tenants. When I moved in, it was incredibly dirty too. On top of that, I had severe roommate issues in which no member of management seemed to care about. They just wanted to charge me an exorbitant amount to move to a new apartment. At one point I went down to the office and asked to speak with the manager on duty, Tristin Ritter, regarding this. It took the poor student worker three tries to get him to come out office to actually talk to me. I was repeatedly told me to file a police report against my roommate, which in the state of PA will not just leave a paper trail. I said that they were arbitrary things my roommate took and that it was unnecessary to the the police involved and that I just wanted a new apartment. He then said and I quote, "Well if you don't want to try and resolve things with your roommate..." to which I cut him off and said "I have tried three times. I asked her twice and had a mediation session and now I have evidence that she is in fact lying about not having my stuff" and he said "Well we can't go into her room and get your stuff back". I then said "That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking for a new apartment" to which after all of the arguing for 20minutes he finally gave me another manager's business card. I called him out and said he was unhelpful and that University Village as a whole was unhelpful. I left in tears and then I emailed and spoke to head office in Texas. The head office lady was very nice as were the security people at the front desk. The only redeemable thing about this place is that it is a 5 minute walk to classes and the gym on the first floor was not bad."
"My Son lived here for 1 year. The positive....I felt safe leaving him there. It's decent. The negative....He only lived there 10 months and we had to pay for 12 months, it's so small it was like he lived in a shoe box and they nickle and dime you. They said it's fine for me to send the previous month utilities in the current month rent check, yet when I did that, I got charged late fees. After he moved out I got a bill for $183 there was a charge for $15 for his half of cleaning the toilet, $15 for his half for cleaning the tub, $15 for his half of cleaning the sink and $15 for his half of taking out the trash. The problem is, it was cleaned by us, so? Also there were 2 late fees and an additional charge for the last month rent. When I called, they couldn't tell me what it was for. The only way to dispute it is through an email to a guy who doesn't respond. Can't say I don't reccomended your child living there. Just watch what you get billed for."
"First impression was terrible. They told me that my room was ready and everything was cleaned before my arrival. When I entered the room and the common areas of the unit, it was disgusting. The guy who was there before me left his clothes on the table. The dishwasher could not be used. The bathroom was disgusting and nothing was cleaned. I will post pictures. In addition, my roommate was not the cleanest person and was not very considerate. It was not possible to change the room on any occasion.... Another bad experience was the card on the washing machine. I bought one where I had some credit to pay for the washing machine and one day my card didn't work, I don't know why. So I asked if there was anything they could do about it, that I had money on it and it just stopped working. They said there was nothing we could do about it, they said sorry. So that was just another example of how they handle some things. Now something about our little friends the cockroaches. They were throughout the unit a very pleasant experience . The air conditioning/heather was also very loud. Also, I left the unit early so I was still paying for rent but I thought I wouldn't have to pay for utilities since I'm not there and I don't use gas, water, etc. No, you have to pay and it's not about money, it's just about attitude, principle, the way how they handle the thing. The good thing about UV I think was the people who lived there and one not the biggest common area."
"This is the first time I’m writing a review on Google but I feel this is necessary. University Village is the worst place to live. I would never recommend that anyone live in this apartment complex. My closet was ruined by severe water leaks 3 times. 3 TIMES AND THEY DID NOTHING. The management is horrible and the maintenance is terrible. All they do is pinch you of every penny you have and do nothing. I can’t believe I signed here. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT sign here. I can tolerate a lot but this place was horrible. I had to throw out $1000 worth of clothes and personal belongings. Moldy and disgusting!"
"My daughter just moved in and has had maintenance issues that have yet to be addressed. They were noted on her move in form and also work orders have been placed. Also, the trash on her floor was into the hallway there was so much. She is enjoying the experience despite the maintenance issues. She likes the free printing and gym. The laundry on her floor was broken and she had trouble finding another open washer. We will see what her experience is like going forward."
