"They keep deleting my review!!! I wonder why?? My original review was simply me warning everyone that the fire alarm is not fixed and management absolutely does not have the issue under control. They blamed the most recent fire alarm on the rain and said it had nothing to do with the previous false alarms. Hmmm, so did it only rain on our building?? If not, then why was our building the only one whose alarm went off?? Maybe it has something to do with the persistent problem with the overall fire alarm system that has existed for years (see older reviews). But no, they want us to believe that each of the 20 false alarms was its own isolated incident, and they totally have everything under control. You can delete my message all you want, I will come back every day to repost it. Or you can reply and say, “I’m so sorry, we’d love to talk more about my concerns.” Don’t bother, we already talked on the phone and you repeated the same nonsensical corporate script the whole time. Just admit that you don’t have this under control and you are unwilling to pay to fix the faulty system. At this point, I’d take honest and evil over dishonest and incompetent."
"Never left a review in my life but created an account just for this. The alarm is currently blaring and has been on and off since around 2AM. It’s now almost 4AM on a Monday. According to another review from 10 months ago, the problem has been found and they were looking for a permanent fix. Obviously that’s not the case. I’ve lived here for a year and a half and this has been a problem the whole time. Trust me, not a single feature at the asher is worth waking up in the middle of the night to deafening alarms and the accompanying strobe lights. I would not recommend living here, especially if you have any pets. Something has got to be done about this because living here is unbearable."
"Disclaimer: this was posted 12/18/23. I will edit the rating if these issues are addressed properly — not just with a copy and pasted lie from management about there being a “temporary fix” in place. I will repost if this gets deleted. My partner and I have only lived here 2.5 months, but I deeply regret moving to the Asher for two main reasons: 1) Fire alarm has falsely gone off 8 times in less than 3 months. 5am, noon, 2am. Everywhere in between. Most recently the alarms went off from 2-4am. Something is seriously wrong with this place. It is dangerous and downright wrong to continuously displace residents under false pretenses — particularly those who are seniors, those with accessibility needs, and who have small children and pets. How many building codes are not up to regulation? It seems hyperbolic to say someone could die on this property because of this, but it’s valid. 2) Unresponsive management about glaring maintenance issues. My partner and I have spent more than 2 months trying to get management to fix the unbearable squeaking, grinding, and clanking noises coming from the garage doors that open and close hundreds of times per day. 11 emails in a thread with audio recordings of the issue, 1 in person conversation with Owen, and still no movement or follow up. Multiple units are affected by this. We can’t work or sleep without hearing this 24/7. It has caused emotional damage. I can’t tell if this is intentionally being brushed aside because Bozzuto is busy doing damage control from their class action lawsuit about rent prices in DC, or if this is just plain negligence. Either way, a dereliction of duty. Do not rent here if you value your peace, safety, and money."
"I have lived here almost two years and love the great people that live here and the sense of community! My neighbors are so kind and welcoming. The staff is great, too. The concierge, Earl, is an absolute joy to interact with. He takes the time to get to know the residents and always is quick to assist! He’s one of the best parts of the Asher experience! Lastly, excellent location. It’s very walkable and convenient to the metro. Very happy here!"
"EDIT 2/16/23: I really hate to bring my review down but the false fire alarms are really annoying. They happen constantly in the middle of the night and are super disruptive to our work week. For some reason, the building can never figure out how to prevent the system from absolutely melting down. It leads to dangerous situations as a lot of residents don’t bother evacuating, thinking they’re just false alarms. Please fix the system! The best apartment community in Old Town by far. We just renewed our lease for another year since the price increase was nowhere near as high as we were dreading. The management and staff here really take care of residents and plan the best community events every season. The apartments themselves are spacious, clean and inviting, and the amenities very thoughtful from the multiple rooftop terraces, the gym, and rentable guest suite for out-of-town visitors. Also very easy to commute to work in DC since the metro is literally steps away."
