"Caveat Emptor (Buyer beware)...The elevators are often broken and need to be repaired. This is a good location and safe neighborhood, but the building itself is over 70 years old and in need of repair. Air conditioners blow mold into apartments, even after you've washed the filter. There are no washers and dryers in the apartments themselves, and the shared laundry room is dirty, and half of the machines are out of order. If you can afford something better, lease in another building with a higher rating. Nothing worse than having to trek up and down 7 flights of stairs with an arm full of laundry. Then half the washers and dryers are out of order."
"I’ve lived here around five years and never really had any problems until the new management took over. At this time both elevators are broken! The freight elevator is too scary to ride on. I just took it because of the other two broken elevators and when I got to the 8th, my floor, the door wouldn’t open. There is trash on the sidewalks, cigarette buts and dog poop everywhere. The laundry room in the basement is a joke. Most of the time over half the machines are broken. Don’t move here. I’m getting ready to have ankle surgery and in no position to leave but I will as soon as I can! I used to like it ok here but now I hate it. Again, don’t move here. So, I just tried to call the office and the phones aren’t working either. This is ridiculous."
"Fetch needs to go. It's supposed to be optional, but if a Fetch employee feels like swiping your package from the mail room to take to their facilities, they will, and the leasing office says they have no power over it. They steal packages, too. At their facility they have package scanners. Never have prescriptions mailed to the Bridgeyard if you need them. Fetch employees at the facility are sketchy stoners who'll swipe anything they think might be something they can get high off of or sell. I feel like the fetch containers should be removed from the mail room (since the packages are meant to be mailed to their facility for scheduled delivery, not picked up and taken from the Bridgeyypremises) and fetch employees should only be allowed to drop off packages at people's doors. Fetch employees should be barred from entering the mail room. This is supposed to be an optional service for residents concerned about stolen packages, not something that adds to the paranoia of having a package stolen. Oh and I'm also someone who has to wake up at 2am to get to work by 4:30 most mornings. They shut off the hot water between 2 and 5 am. I get utilities are free here and management cuts the hot water off when most people are sleeping to save dough and make free utilities a possibility for us, but it's kinda depressing. That said, the Fetch service alone is enough for me to rate this place 2 stars, but I'm giving a full five stars to bump the overall rating of this place to drown out pest and noise complainers. This is an old building right next to the potomac river. Insects and spiders are unavoidable, but pests are shockingly a minor issue for the price and geographical location of this place. I rarely see them in my apartment and I am on the first floor. Noisy neighbors, food smell, and smoke smell seaping in your apartment is what comes with apartment living anywhere. Leasing office can't do much to force rude neighbors to stop being rude. Unless you can dish the cash to own or rent your own house, don't expect this to not be a problem when you rent in a large complex with hundreds of other people. We are in Old Town Alexandria. The colonial townhomes just down the block run for a minimum of $2 million to $20 million for new homeowners. I grew up in one that my Dad recently sold for $4.5 million. The area is also incredibly safe, next to no crime, and everything you could possibly need (groceries, clothing, good restaurants, schools, doctor offices, etc) is a short walk away. ~$2k for a newly renovated 2 bedroom+ balcony with the occasional roach and smoke smell from down the hall is such an unbelievably good deal in an area as safe and convenient as this, one would think Bridgeyard rooms are a scam listing from China, but it's real. And very worth."
"I would not recommend living here. The leasing office staff has gotten better and the place is cheap. However, they don’t do anything about neighbors who smoke cigarettes, weed, and cigars all hours of the day. It will seep into your apartment and make your things smell. It’s gross and also a health hazard. There are also A LOT of cockroaches in the basement. And frequently, the basement door in 1202 is left wide open all day and all night long which is a huge safety violation. There is also not a gaurentee of hot water. Which they say they fix, but based on their reviews is something that everyone experiences. The pool is also open inconsistent hours which is disappointing. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place. It seems like they will just rely on their low price point to get renters."
"We've just moved in to Bridgeyard apartments, and so far are loving it. They are dog friendly, and have really beautiful renovated apartments with updated appliances. They are in a fabulous location near old town, with views of the Potomac, and close to trails and parks. The price is right too. All the staff I've encountered have been fantastically helpful and kind. Some small repairs were needed and completed within 24 hours of reporting."
