"I don't know where to begin. The room ends before you walk in. It's 15% bigger than your bed. The entire place is dark and creepy as heck. I have never been to a hotel like this. Walked in and a stripper party is going on to the left, loud music. The hallways remind you of a 1950s horror film. The bathroom is SPLIT into two sides, shower and sink on one and the toilet on the other. This was seriously the 2nd worst hotel I've ever seen. And it's competition for worst is a hotel in a SMALL village in India (so that's not saying much). Leave it to say. I checked in, went up, saw the room, got on the phone, booked a new hotel and left within 20 minutes. I have no idea what the heck this brand was thinking."
"2 main functions of a room - a place to sleep and a place to clean yourself. With NO HOT WATER I give them a failing grade - read other reviews, this isn't new. Thanks for the cold shower? Pay you nearly 300 bucks for that? The miserable stay extends tonthe fact you have to ask for them to change temp in room. Oh! Did I mention is 78 degrees? And I know the Ash Bar shouldn't be lumped in, but they own it. So what the heck - I walked in to see 70% unoccupied seating. I tried to walk to my wife and friends sitting at a table and was stopped. I told him I'm just going to sit with them. The host said "we are at capacity and can't let anyone else in. Don't stay here. Don't give them money. Don't give them uncritical reviews when they don't provide basic functions of a room stay."
"Stayed here my last night in Baltimore before moving and I wish I would have stayed sooner just for the experience. The aesthetic inside made me feel welcome, safe, and relaxed as soon as I walked through the door. Both receptionists that I interacted with made me feel informed and taken care of. Dogs stay free! Definitely a game changer. Last, the location is perfect for exploring the historical Mount Vernon neighborhood or hopping on the free circulator bus to visit Charles Village or Fed Hill. Stay here when visiting Baltimore. The stay is well worth the reasonable price."
"The Ulysses is an amazing new addition to the hotel options in Baltimore. Our group felt like we were in The Great Gatsby or the Roaring 20's. The attention to detail is incredible. What a great use of a historic Baltimore building. You should definitely consider a stay here when visiting."
"What a cool place to stay. It felt like another world inside the hotel- to agree with the negative reviews- yes the hotel is dark, service was a little slow in the Ash Bar, but that is part of the experience of this moody, dimly-lit, slowed-down space. We had a little room with a full bed, with the toilet in its own little room to the side and the shower and sink one the other. The bed was so cozy, the decor so cool and unique. We enjoyed drinks at the bloom bar- the bartender made a delicious mocktail for me. We also enjoyed breakfast at the Ash Bar. We loved reading the morning paper in the lounge seating while waiting for our table. Service was a bit slow but was made up for with complimentary cheese scones and polite, friendly servers. The food was worth the wait once it arrived. Location was fab as well and we found good street parking nearby!"
