"I've been trying to take my son, Jackson, here to get his teeth cleaned and although he has had his teeth cleaned there at least once that I can recall, he hasn't been back because unfortunately, even though I like and respect Terry Stepnick, and I think he's a great dentist, we had to pay out of pocket because they didn't accept her health insurance...but that was okay because again I like Stepnick, as I've been going to his office since I was a kid. So I thought it was a good idea that my son also go to his office as well.l even if it did cost a considerably amount of cash out of pocket. I just called in today to schedule another appointment for him but I found out that they will no longer see my son because we canceled three appointments in a row. Now I'm not saying they're lying but I don't know how accurate that information is because I know we canceled two appointments but I don't recall the third time. And it's not like we did a no call no show, we just canceled the appointments because we couldn't get the money together because it is rather expensive and they wouldn't allow installment payments over time. And another thing was, I remember cancelling the first appointment because at first they had told us they did accept our insurance but the day before his appointment we called in just to confirm that they still accepted our insurance and the time and date were right (etc...) and they told us they never did except our insurance, so obviously we had to cancel it at that point... They said initially that they did accept our insurance (UPMC For You) but then a few months later when his appointment was about to come up, they told us they never did. In light of this new and contradicting information, can you blame me for abruptly cancelling it the day before? I just don't like playing these games and I don't like the fact that they said we're no longer welcome there because we "canceled three appointments" despite the fact that they screwed us over the first time by giving us faulty information in the first place... And again, I only remember cancelling twice, not 3 times. It is what it is. It's just unfortunate because it's so damn hard finding a children's dentist local to us who accepts our insurance. I thought Terry would be a great guy to go to because of my families long history with him, but I guess not anymore. I mean, when I was a teenager a cut his houses lawn for a few summers! And this is how it ends..."
"I used this dentist for the first 25 years or so of my life. The staff and Dr. are extremely personable and friendly. I had plenty of dental issues from fillings to root canals throughout my life and always had them taken care of here. Out of convenience after I moved I went to another dentist who was horrified by the quality of the work. Since then I have found a new dentist who shared the same opinion. I have had thousands of dollars worth of correctional procedures since then. The difference in quality is beyond noticeable. Unfortunately, two of my family members had the same experience, one resulting in multiple tooth removals. Do your research and look for quality. It took me a long time to write this post but after a painful root canal re-do, I have to warn people to do your research."
"Fantastic care and treatment. Dr. Terry is caring and extremely professional. Everyone there is wonderful."
"Terry and his staff are the best. I'm not originally from the area but my husband is and he recommended Terry Stepnick's office as he has been going there for 20 plus years, or so he told me. Since taking Jimmy's (my husband's) advice, I see entirely what he meant when he said Terry Stepnick's dentistry was the best practice in Pittsburgh. They're friendly, caring, professional and diligent. And they've treated our young son, who has autism, especially with detailed care and gracious empathy. Thank you again Terry and crew -- you guys are the best! And Ms. Rose, that absolutely includes you as well! Thank you guys! :)"
"Sadly, I've had the same experience as many of the other reviewers. My family has been going here for nearly 10 years and I thought all was well until a year or two ago. I thought it was odd that Orthodontics were never raised so I decided to take my pre-teen kids for a consultation and learned that my daughter had an impacted tooth that was visible on x-rays and Dr. Stepnick's office never mentioned it, "everything looks good" always. My son in college had a routine appointment and chipped a back tooth shortly before so he raised it and was told it was fine. A month later he needed a root canal and Dr. Stepnick clearly didn't know what he was doing. We went somewhere else, and it was smooth as can be. Needless to say, we won't be going back."
