"Absolute gem. Both the great instruments (that are very well set and are in great playing condition) and the man in charge. Very recommended to old instruments lovers, and musicians in general (:"
"The entire vibe and atmosphere in Jake’s family shop is warm and inviting, but most importantly- so is the man himself! He keeps a neat collection of unique, vintage, and a few units of not so rare gear. Has gone well out of his way to help me every time I go in with symptoms of “gear acquisition syndrome”. He will not try to sell you services or products you don’t need, it is unlike any music shop experience you will have otherwise. I was referred by a friend and have officially found my go-to guitar shop. Care, attention to detail, and a great attitude…you can’t ask for more."
"Jake Wildwood is the genius savant of vintage string instruments. He is a walking encyclopedia of musical knowledge particularly about guitars, mandolins, banjos, fiddles, ukes, tiples, etc. from my favorite musical era, early 1900s through the 1940s. Over the past dozen or so years I have brought Jake around 30-odd odd and old instruments in various stages of disrepair, and each one was expertly and lovingly brought back to playing condition. Every instrument Jake repairs he creates a blogpost with more than a dozen photos, history of the instrument, description of his repair work, a discussion of comparative tonal qualities, and often includes a video of him playing on the improved instrument. When I acquired each of my dream "mother-of-toilet-seat" instruments (1937 Gibson Century of Progress guitar and matching mandolin and 1939 Bacon & Day Sultana I Silver Bell gaudy ornate tenor banjo) my first stop was always Jake's workbench, where he immediately dives in (filing frets, building a new bridge, adjusting the nut, replacing strings, setting up action just right, etc.). Each time, he does this work while I wait and chat and play instruments hanging on his wall, sometimes finishing in a half hour or an hour and once he spent four hours restoring the 1937 Gibson guitar. Jake is a true artiste of instrument repairs. Highest recommendations."
"We love Jake, his welcoming shop, musical sessions, his exceptional work, and reasonable prices. I'm right now looking at a beautiful corner cupboard we bought from him years ago, and I've had numerous instrument repairs done, as well as sales, swaps and purchases. Jake posts fantastic videos wherein he plays most all of the instruments that pass thorough his hands. Musical instrument salivators (droolers) of the world unite!"
"Jake does an outstanding job! This is one of the most interesting and unique musical instrument shops. They always have a fun and diverse inventory of used instruments, and Jake performs great set-ups on all instruments prior to sale. Very Highly recommended!"
