"I recently visited the Rangeley Lakes Trails Center and was absolutely delighted by the experience! This Nordic area is a hidden gem for anyone who loves snowshoeing or is looking to try it out for the first time. The trails are beautifully maintained, winding through stunning landscapes that truly showcase the natural beauty of the area. Whether you're looking for a peaceful, solitary experience or an adventurous day out with friends or family, these trails offer something for everyone. The variety in trail difficulty is also a huge plus, catering to both beginners and seasoned snowshoers. What really sets this place apart, however, is their top-notch rental service. The equipment available for rent is in excellent condition - modern, clean, and well-maintained. The staff's knowledge and assistance in selecting the right gear added greatly to the overall experience. They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely enthusiastic about snowshoeing, which made the whole process of renting equipment a breeze. In addition, the warm and welcoming atmosphere at the center is remarkable. There's a sense of community here that makes you feel right at home, even if you're a first-time visitor. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure everyone has a memorable time. In summary, the Rangeley Lakes Trails Center is an outstanding destination for snowshoeing enthusiasts and novices alike. With its breathtaking trails, excellent rental services, and a wonderfully hospitable environment, it's a place I'll definitely be returning to and recommending to others!"
"We have been here in the summer to hike the trails, but our first winter visit was in late January / early February 2023. It’s a whole different world! We could have easily spent a whole week or more exploring it. The trails are exceptionally well-groomed, well-maintained, and well-signed - we had no problems finding our way around. We snowshoed to the lake and back on a couple of the days we were there. We took cross-country skiing lessons with Scott and really enjoyed them. He’s a fantastic and very patient teacher. My husband and I each have very different skill and comfort levels when it comes to skiing (I’m the complete novice), and Scott adapted really easily to both of our needs. Would recommend taking a lesson at Rangeley Lakes Trail Center even if you’ve done downhill skiing before. The staff there are all really friendly and helpful with great recommendations for gear, trails, and more. The warming yurt is cozy and quiet and brings together a lovely community of locals and visitors."
"Great trails (even pre-season), friendly and helpful staff. Only complaint is the map/trail markers. Our group of 6 ended up missing turns and went far longer than we expected. Better trail labels and "you are here" maps would've been very helpful."
"Although, not very challenging, they are the most pristinely groomed trails I've ever seen!"
"Absolutely beautiful, although not the best hike during mud season. We took Geneva Loop and maybe it wasn't a good idea to hike the snowshoe/cross country trails but we didn't know any better. Ground was collapsing underneath each step, we didn't know what was safe to walk on. Rocks sinking 6 inches into the ground, it was quite the adventure that's for sure! Proceed with caution hikers!"
