About the Business
Children's Enrichment on the Cape is a unique early childhood program located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Inspired by the schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy, we offer a nature-based curriculum that encourages children to explore and learn in the great outdoors.
Our 4-acre campus includes nature trails, playscapes, a children's garden, and even goats and alpacas for the children to care for. We believe in hands-on learning and encourage children to run, climb, play, and pretend as they develop essential skills and a love for learning.
At Children's Enrichment on the Cape, we focus on teaching children to care for themselves, others, and the environment. Through activities like composting, recycling, and exploring nature, children learn the importance of empathy, kindness, and environmental stewardship.
Our state-licensed program enrolls children from infants through age 5, providing a well-rounded education that fosters a lifelong love of learning. Through interest-led learning and authentic play, children and teachers work together as researchers, sparking curiosity and discovery in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Join us at Children's Enrichment on the Cape and let your child experience the wonders of nature while developing essential skills for the future.

"Our daughter has attended Children’s Enrichment since she was a toddler and she’ll be heading off to Kindergarten in a few weeks. She is so prepared for this next step and a lot of this is due to her time at Children’s Enrichment. Kathy and all of the teachers, who have been a part of our family for the last three years, are kind, compassionate and caring. These qualities have transferred to our daughter and I’m forever thankful for the exceptional care she received at such a pivotal time of development. We will miss Children’s Enrichment so much but are confident that they laid the foundation for her to excel in Kindergarten and beyond."
"My wife and I are foster parents to an almost two year old child who’s been in our care since she was a newborn. Choosing a daycare was a nerve wracking decision. We needed consistency, safety, and confidentiality. We also wanted a supportive, inclusive, and fun learning environment that would help her continue to develop and hit milestones. We found all of that and more at Children’s Enrichment on the Cape! Owner Kathy and the infant teachers Caitlin and Rosanne are an incredible team of caregivers who nurture and support both our little one and us as first time parents. We love how communicative they are during drop off and pick up and throughout the day via an app. Additionally, there are special events and opportunities to gather with other parents and kids for art shows, live music, and seasonal celebrations. We feel lucky to be part of the community here and grateful to all who create it."
"I had attended a daycare run by Kathy when I was a child and had the fondest memories and experience. So when when my husband and I found ourselves searching for a day care during a pandemic, I immediately felt a sense of comfort knowing that Kathy and her staff would be caring for our child. Her safety both physically and emotionally has always been top priority and I feel that all of her teachers/Kathy care for her as if she was their own with those same goals in mind. They are all great humans and we are very grateful for them. Our daughter has attended Children’s Enrichment on the Cape for over three years now and even after moving further away from the daycare program we would rather drive an hour round trip than send her to another place."
"Kathy Cole's unethical treatment of individuals and families demonstrates a blatant abuse of power in her role as employer and childcare provider. My family had been a part of Children's Enrichment on the Cape for 16 months. I never found Kathy to be particularly friendly or engaging, but I assumed this was just personal nature and did not see this as any sort of problem or infringing upon the safety and wellbeing of my children. At the point where we had been sending our children to Children's Enrichment for a year, Kathy's behavior and attitude towards my children and my family began to change. My family - including my 4 year old child - endured exclusion, harassment, and threats. We ultimately decided our children were no longer safe under the direct care and supervision of Kathy Cole. Kathy Cole's demonstrative bullying behavior is unacceptable and congruent with emotional and psychological abuse. It has taken me nearly a year to write this review. I have processed and shared my experience with many individuals - personally and professionally - who have supported me in publicizing this review in hopes that it may help others."
"My 4yo daughter has been at Children's Enrichment for about six months now and its been great. She's really blossomed since being here in terms of independence, communication, and physical abilities. I plan to enroll my other daughter who is currently 2yo as soon as a space becomes available. The staff are wonderful and always friendly and accommodating."
