Torrid

"My fiancé loves Torrid. At first I didn't really get it. I thought of it as any other clothes store, but after many, many trips with her to many different clothing shops, some patterns emerge as to why Torrid is so popular. -The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful (this is huge, most clothing store employees try to avoid eye contact or acknowledgement as much as possible, especially if you're on the heavier side. Torrid employees seem genuinely invested in you finding what you want and looking great.) -The quality of clothes is decent (could be better, could be waaaaay worse). -The sizes start around a "large" other places as "Torrid 00" (my fiancé isn't some who can normally say she wears a single digit size, though I've yet to unlock the mystery of women's clothing sizes at large, I can confidently get her something that will fit with Torrid's sizes.) -Often, Torrid is the only option for fashionable clothes in plus sizes in the entire mall. -They carry an actually reasonable selection of bra sizes (it's Torrid or online shopping for options.) While Torrid flirts with the "fast fashion" culture that's so problematic in our culture, it's almost the only way to access mainstream fashion trends for bigger women. As absurd as this seems (hello, we heavy people exist, deal with it), it's also the reality. Torrid isn't just the best option, it's often the only option."

"Felt like I had my own personal shopper, August was a great help in finding me an outfit for my cruise. And she is always helping my husband find the perfect pieces for my taste even without meeting me at first."

"I have been shopping here for over 4 years and have loved the clothing selection, the sales, but mostly the excellent customer service. Everyone there has always been so helpful. My daughter even loves shopping here, which is no small thing because she is hard to please with fashion. Unfortunately, I will not be shopping here again. I took my daughter here to pick out shapewear to go with her formal dress. Upon finding a pair of Spanx, we were informed it wasn’t an option to try them on before buying. Okay, but what if they don’t fit? That’s okay, I was told, you can come back and exchange them. Upon returning home not only did they not fit, but my daughter decided she’d rather not wear any shapewear. I came back to the store today, with my receipt, to ask for a store credit and was informed that they were not returnable. Even after I explained that I was told otherwise, she wouldn’t budge. So that means I’m stuck with a $30 pair of panties that will never be worn? Not okay. I called customer service to complain and they filed a report to handle the situation. Whatever the outcome, I will not be coming back. I know that particular employee couldn’t care less about losing a loyal customer, but hopefully others will and think twice about how to treat them."

"I never thought I would ever leave a poor review here but unfortunately here I am. I went in today at the Maine Mall location to do a return for an item that didn’t fit sadly, and I had the receipt but not the tags- tried finding them but couldn’t and tried to explain to the worker who helped me. Immediately a rude tone, and with the holiday season at a mall I know it’s brutal having worked at said mall, but I was taken aback as it was the first time I ever had such an interaction at a Torrid. She said she would do the return as a ‘courtesy’ and I appreciated it, but she made a point to say she couldn’t resell it and I apologized, but the rest of the transaction she did not talk to me and when she handed my receipt I apologized again but she walked away. I hate being this person but I was very disappointed as I love shopping here and normally everyone is nice but this was my first interaction with this worker and it was a not a good impression. Normally the workers I interact with are nothing but nice so it was a shock for me. I will refrain from visiting the store for awhile and do my shopping online, as this really disheartened me and makes me anxious setting foot in there for the time being. :("

"I don’t know how they do it but they always manage to find the best staff. The lady’s that work there are always friendly and beyond helpful . You can always count on them for a truthful opinion and help finding what looks great. It’s definitely not just about the sale for them. The clothes are also great. Worth the prices for the quality."
