"Some time last night, my daughter's new car was towed by ASAP towing at the direction of UNIVERSITY PARK APARTMENTS. Why?? Because she had a parking pass dated 2020-2021. My child is a full time nursing student who works part time and we've NEVER been late with the $700.00 rent. A packet of information was sent out on August 2, 2021 by email in a "New Resident" package indicating that she needed to secure a new parking pass. No subsequent email was sent. Since she has been residing in this apartment since August 2, 2020 she didn't consider herself as a new resident. Since the current pass doesn't expire until 2021 needless to say she didn't place much emphasis on getting a new one. You may be asking why am I posting this; well it is because they have contacted her by phone for less important things. Because we don't have any family in Salisbury MD, I asked if someone at the rental office could take her up to the tow place which is a 4 minute drive and I was told "No" they could not do that. As a result, she had to pay $250.00 to get her car back plus $30.00 to get an UBER. When she arrived to the location of her vehicle, she showed the attendee the pass and he stated "I don't know why they flagged your car with that pass in there." Fortunately, we are in a position where she was able to handle the financial business. However, this could have been your child in a situation that was preventable by the rental office. I expressed my discontent to one leasing manager and my daughter to another. The response was "I'm sorry and we have cars towed all of the time." My daughter has parked her old car in the same place with the same parking pass since last year. She has NEVER been notified or warned of the outdated tag. This makes me question the motives and emphasizes the lack of sincerity of the "I'm Sorry." All of this to say that I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX TO ANYONE BASED ON THIS SITUATION AND OTHERS. They are preying on college students and this is a terrible practice that causes an undue hardship on families. It should be noted that my daughter's car was not the only vehicle that was towed last night! Tanya Smith"
"This place is ok, the positive is its close to campus, easy maintenance requests, and a few nice common spaces. The negatives are, don't expect a clean apartment when you move in, walls are paper thin, very rowdy on the weekends, when you move out they will charge you $40 for a blind that costs $2 at Walmart."
"This is my second semester living at University Park, and I must say that the morale has gone severely downhill since I first moved in. Let me start off by saying I have a slightly different lifestyle than some college students, being that I don't play loud music and party until later than 12 or 1 in the morning. The secluded feeling is somewhat nice, albeit you can still hear noise so well throughout all the apartments. The walls are extremely thin, so if someone is playing music in the next apartment, you'll be able to hear/feel it through the walls very, very easily. In this sense, sleep is very important to me so if I'm woken up by loud apartments, I'm not happy. A more important and rather pressing issue is the wifi. I've put in several requests for this to be taken care of, but little progress has actually been done. For 695 a month I understand it's not going to be incredible, but the wifi is very, very bad. If you're trying to do homework at peak times, forget it. The MBPS is often times less than 20, and sometimes less than 10. I spend very little time at this apartment, other than to sleep, specifically because I just don't enjoy being there. I can't get anything done, it's noisy and out of the way, and overall it just isn't the place for me. The main reason behind my rating is the overall quality of the staff. I have to bring this incident up because customer service is huge when conducting any sort of business. My former roommate's girlfriend had a very, very bad problem with her roommates smoking weed in the apartment, and she strongly disliked how it always smelled like it day in and day out. She had told them many times to stop, and they lashed out at her. At which point she reached out to the staff at University Park to try and correct the issue, and two RAs came out to inspect the apartment. To my knowledge, the RAs were well aware that the apartment smelled like weed (because the smell doesn't just magically go away when RAs come), but they said that they couldn't go into her roommate's rooms to find/smell more weed because the doors were closed. I partially understand this, but partially don't. It could be an invasion of privacy, but to my understanding, after this RA inspection, nothing was done about the smell or the bad roommates. She was forced to break her lease and move out, which anyone in their right mind wouldn't want to have to do when they're not at fault. Based on the aforementioned problems, it's very recently come to my attention that University Park is a lot of say and not a lot of do. The staff manager even told me that they replaced their wifi servers to $200,000 servers over this past winter break, but what he fails to understand is that you can have the fastest servers in the world, and they still won't perform correctly in the individual apartments unless there is a strong signal connection. The clubhouse wifi is strong, the apartment wifi is not. I also put in several requests for our door to be fixed, but nothing has been done. The reason the weed incident with my former roommate's girlfriend was such an issue is because the RA for my apartment complex said VERBATIM - "if we catch you with drugs you'll be out faster than you know." Well, I hate to say it, but that is a complete lie. She was all bark and no bite. You can say all you want, but unless you follow through with it, your words mean nothing. In short, if the RAs took their jobs seriously, the noise was dealt with (e.g this and the RAs taking their jobs seriously go hand and hand), the wifi problems were mitigated, and the staff held true to their words, then this set of apartments would be a halfway decent place to live. The amenities are nice, but we are college students, where student does in fact come first. The way I personally see it, and others may or may not feel the same, is that we have just three basic needs for an apartment: decent wifi, decent air conditioning/heating, and mitigated outside noise. This allows us to sleep and do our work. Any other aspects of an apartment, to me, are just simple perks."
"The grounds are beautiful and the amenities are great. But I wish the walls were not paper thing so that I couldn't hear just about anything anyone on the floor was saying, people coming up the stairs, or even outside in the parking lot. Needs more bike racks with a coverage."
"I have very much enjoyed my experience living at University Park Apartments. I enjoy the close proximity to campus, all the additional features that are offered by maintenance, the clubhouse and the shuttle system. my only suggestion would be cheaper rent but I know that isn't all that flexible!"
