In collaboration with our Sommerville community, we have chosen the vision statement "Together, learning to live our best lives" to represent our aspirations for our learners, whānau, and staff.

Our team of specialists at Sommerville work closely with individual students, class groups, and teachers to ensure that each student receives the support they need to grow and reach their full potential. Our team includes Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Behavioral Psychologists, as well as Visual and Hearing Impaired specialists. By taking a team approach, we strive for success in all areas of our students' lives.

Choosing and enrolling in a school for children with special needs can be a challenging and confusing process. At Sommerville, we work closely with families to make this process as easy as possible and to help them understand the unique benefits and support available to their child when enrolled with us. Parents can book an appointment with one of our senior managers who will gladly answer any questions and provide guidance on how Sommerville can meet their child's needs.

At Sommerville, we teach according to the New Zealand Curriculum, adapting our programs to suit the levels and needs of our students. Our dedicated teachers create individualized learning programs designed to engage and excite students in their educational journey. We work closely with families and whanau to ensure that every student has the best opportunities to learn at their appropriate level.

Additionally, our Outreach service provides specialist teacher support in local schools for students funded through the Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS). Our expert team of teachers draws upon the resources and knowledge from across our school network to collaborate with students and teachers in other schools, ensuring that all students have access to the support they need.
