Cosgrove School

Welcome to Cosgrove School, located in Papakura, Auckland. We are a Year 1-6 primary school that serves a multicultural South Auckland community. Established in 1959, Cosgrove School has built a strong reputation for providing an excellent learning environment where our tamariki (children) can grow into confident, motivated citizens who respect themselves, each other, and their environment.

Our school features modern classrooms, many of which have been built or refurbished into the Innovative Learning Environment style, offering open spaces where two teachers work with their combined class. Students have access to a wide range of IT resources, including sets of chromebooks and tablets. We operate three syndicates: Junior (Years 1 & 2), Middle (Years 3 & 4), and Senior (Years 5 & 6), each led by experienced senior leaders and a team of talented, enthusiastic, and motivated teachers. Our teaching is further supported by a large number of teacher aides who assist in classroom programs or work independently with groups of students. We are fortunate to have extensive grounds, three separate playgrounds, a solar-heated swimming pool, and a well-resourced library.

At Cosgrove School, we believe that education is a partnership between the school and the Whanau (family), and we actively seek opportunities for families to be involved in their child's learning. We also prioritize the safety of our students, with no shortened school days for wet weather. Please note that the school cannot take responsibility for children who arrive before 8.30am. Any early arrivals must assemble and wait quietly on the court area behind the hall or in front of the hall until the 8.30am bell. In case of wet weather, they may wait under the adjacent covered areas.

Our school office is open from 8.30am to 3.30pm each day, and our answer phone operates outside these hours. If you would like your children to have a sibling photo taken on Class Photo Day (Wednesday 21st June), please collect the form from the office and return it by Tuesday 20th June at the latest. We cannot take a sibling photo without a signed consent form, so please ensure these are completed.

Our school operates on a four-term system, with Term 1 running from Tuesday 31st January to Thursday 6th April, and Term 4 running from Monday 9th October to Wednesday 20th December. Please note that due to conflicting events, our class/sibling/individual photos have been postponed until later in the year.
