Northern Health School - Admin & Central Auckland

Welcome to the Northern Health School - Admin & Central Auckland! We are an establishment located at 385 Queen Street in Auckland, New Zealand. As a point of interest and school, we offer a unique educational experience for school-aged students who are too unwell to attend their regular school.

At the Northern Health School, we pride ourselves on providing individualized programs tailored to meet the health and education needs of our students. Our integrated service, which combines community and hospital-based teaching, is one of a kind in the world. This allows our dedicated teachers to provide a seamless and comprehensive education to each student.

We have a close relationship with two other health schools in New Zealand, making our service national in scope. The learner is at the heart of everything we do, and we ensure that every student, regardless of their health condition, location, or aspirations, receives a quality education. We value the voices and choices of our learners and strive for equity of opportunity for all.

Our institution is guided by our core values: commitment to learning and the learner, compassion inherent in all that we do, achievement through setting and achieving learner-centered goals, respect for culture, diversity, and each other, and equity of opportunity for all learners.

We are proud to share the positive results of our last Education Review Office review, which highlighted the exceptional performance of our staff in supporting students through individualized programs. The review also recognized our efforts in developing links with local communities, including local Iwi, and our commitment to staff development.

Wellbeing is a key focus for us, and we continuously work to improve the support we provide to our students. We also prioritize the professional development of our staff and ensure that the principal's performance appraisal is conducted annually by external contractors.

Reporting on student progress is a challenge for our school due to the relatively short periods of time students spend with us. However, we are implementing the Learning Progressions Framework to track student progress and analyze trends across various factors.

The Northern Health School Board is dedicated to providing a high level of support for our students and their whanau (families). We continuously reflect on our practices and strive for improvement.
