Marist Catholic School Herne Bay

Welcome to Marist Catholic School Herne Bay, located in Auckland, New Zealand. We are a State-Integrated Catholic Primary School with a maximum roll of 300 students, catering to students from Year 0 to 6. Our students continue their education in a variety of schools, primarily St Mary’s College, St Paul’s College, and St Peters College.

At Marist Catholic School, we strive to provide a wide range of learning opportunities in core curriculum areas and extracurricular activities. With 95 years of history, we are proud of our high expectations of behavior, strong academic achievements, and the embodiment of our school values, both past and present.

As a Catholic school, our Special Character is at the heart of everything we do. Gospel values underpin our daily lives, and we place great importance on our Christian faith. We deliver a morals-based education, ensuring that our students clearly understand the difference between right and wrong. We also value each child's uniqueness and the special attributes they bring to our school.

Guided by the example of Mary, we strive to be individuals who say 'Yes' to God's call and live a life true to Gospel values. We encourage and support each other, always looking to Mary as our Mother in times of adversity. To help parents support their children's faith understanding, we provide access to the Family Whanau book.

Our students have identified what each of our values - Respect, Integrity, Courage, and Humility - looks like, feels like, and sounds like, bringing these values to life in their actions. Each value is rooted in scripture, emphasizing the importance of treating others as we would like to be treated, walking in integrity, being strong and courageous, and practicing humility.

In addition to these values, we also weave the Maori Values of Whanaungatanga (belonging for all), Arohatanga (empathy, tolerance, understanding of difference, forgiveness, and compassion), and Manaakitanga (hospitality, warmth, sharing, helping, celebrating uniqueness, and bringing out the best in each other) into all interactions.
