Silverstream Kindergarten

Welcome to Silverstream Kindergarten in Upper Hutt, New Zealand! We are dedicated to providing a warm and welcoming environment for all children and their families. Our recently built and vibrant facility offers a spacious indoor space and a large outdoor area with beautiful trees, creating the perfect setting for children to explore and learn.

At Silverstream Kindergarten, we believe in building strong relationships with our families, which is why we hold termly events that all families are invited to. These events help develop and strengthen connections within our community. One of our most cherished traditions is our fifth birthday celebrations, where children participate in special activities like "the big jump to school" and wear a korowai, a traditional Māori cloak.

As the first kindergarten in the Upper Hutt area, we have a strong sense of community and benefit from our proximity to Silverstream Village. Our location also allows easy access to train and bus routes, making drop-offs and pick-ups convenient for families.

We have a close relationship with two local schools, Silverstream and Pinehaven, and have developed a strong transition to school process. We believe in learning through play and provide opportunities for children to explore different experiences and develop social skills in a caring and nurturing environment. Our dedicated teachers work closely with the children, listening to them, extending their thinking, and encouraging collaboration. Our program is child-led, allowing each child to follow their interests in a supported way during each session.

We are passionate about children's art and believe in empowering them to believe in their own creative abilities. Our teachers take the time to display children's artwork, showing them how much we value their work. Each child also has a portfolio that documents their learning journey at Silverstream Kindergarten. We encourage families to take an interest in their child's portfolio and contribute their own stories and comments about their child's learning.
