Welcome to Heretaunga College, a prestigious secondary school nestled in the beautiful Hutt River valley of Upper Hutt, New Zealand. With a prime location just 30km from Wellington CBD, the capital city of New Zealand, our institution offers a unique blend of natural beauty and excellent education.

At Heretaunga College, we cater to over 700 students, both boys and girls, aged between 12 and 18 years. As one of the best secondary schools in New Zealand, we pride ourselves on providing an exceptional education, supported by outstanding leadership, dedicated staff, state-of-the-art facilities, and a wide range of programs.

To ensure a conducive learning environment and prevent overcrowding, Heretaunga College has implemented an amended enrolment scheme. This scheme, approved by the Secretary for Education, defines our home zone and can be viewed on our school website. Unfortunately, due to the significant increase in our school roll and popularity as a preferred school, we are unable to accommodate students residing beyond our current enrolment zone.

For the 2024 academic year, we are pleased to announce that we are now accepting enrolments. We understand the importance of planning ahead and invite you to apply early to secure a place for your child.

However, for out-of-zone placements in Year 9 and Year 11, we will be conducting a Ballot for the 2024 academic year. The closing date for Year 11 out-of-zone applications is Monday, October 16, 2023, at 4pm.
