Westmere Kindergarten

Welcome to Westmere Kindergarten, a peaceful and caring institution located at 90 Garnet Road in Auckland, New Zealand. For over 70 years, we have been a community hub, providing quality education and care for local families. Our qualified teaching team is dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive.

At Westmere Kindergarten, we believe in fostering an enthusiasm for learning and modeling respect, kindness, participation, and cooperation through meaningful conversations. Our teachers are committed to creating lifelong connections with children and their parents, actively involving them in kindergarten life.

Our spacious outdoor environment offers countless opportunities for exploration and discovery. Here, children learn to respect and care for our natural world, as they tend to insects, flowers, and vegetable gardens. We also teach them about sustainable practices, promoting reduce, reuse, and recycle. Ultimately, our tamariki (children) become kaitiaki (guardians) of our place, learning to care for Papatūānuku (Mother Earth).

As a well-resourced kindergarten, we provide a rich and varied curriculum that extends on children's interests and skills. Our learning program allows for continued exploration and project work, enabling children to expand their knowledge. Throughout their daily activities, they experience literacy, numeracy, and science, all while engaging in play.

The majority of our tamariki go on to attend Westmere School, and we work closely with the school to support them during this transition. We believe in the importance of strong partnerships with parents and value their contributions to our program. Our active parent committee organizes fundraising and kindergarten events, ensuring a sense of community and involvement.

Kindergarten hours are from Monday to Friday, 8:45 am to 2:45 pm, and our office hours are from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:45 pm. We are closed during term breaks and public holidays. Our children play well together and are actively engaged in their learning, becoming independent learners who make choices for their play.
