Known for expertise in couples work and relationship counseling, Relationships Aotearoa has been a significant influence in Cary's career.

Cary has also played a pivotal role in the introduction of Emotionally Focused Therapy to New Zealand, an internationally recognized evidence-based approach to couples work. Under Cary's leadership, a national Bachelor of Counseling professional training program was established, training hundreds of counselors throughout the country.
