"I dropped in to have a screw tightened on my watch bracelet. The sales person gladly looked at my watch, tightened it, and chatted with us. I offered to pay and he politely declined my offer. I’m appreciative of his help because the backed out screw could have been disastrous to the watch’s value. Thanks for your help!!"
"Had watch repaired 3x in space of a month... paid each time then the fourth time he told me watch is "definately permanently broken" (he didn't remember me from the first 3 times) and I asked if it were fixable, and he said no. So I asked why he didn't tell me that the first three times and why he charged me 3 times previously if it were, in his words "definately permanently broken". This guys are expensive, dishonest and don't take responsibility for their work they do. It's a shame cause their grandson is a family friend of ours."
"This review is being written late August 2022. I had a ring that would not quite fit and needed enlarging. I went in to Ronalds Jewellers (Spence Street Cairns). My wife and I were greeted in a friendly manner by one of the two assistants there (Paul). After explaining the issue I had, he took my ring size and reported it to be an R. After measuring the ring and having me try on various test rings, he told me that it needed to be enlarged by one size (from an R to an S) and that it might be possible to just stretch it rather than cut it and add metal. He condescendingly remarked that the repair was going to cost more than the ring was worth which I thought bordered on rudeness but I gave him "the benefit of the doubt". He mentioned the work was done on site. He added some of the design might be degraded in this process but I wanted to proceed anyway. He initially quoted me $80 but later changed this $70 - payable on pick up a week later. He did not give me paper work but I felt ok to leave the ring with him. The following Monday, I came back, and before I tried the ring on, Paul had me pay the $70. Then I tried it on. To my complete surprise, there seemed no apparent change - ... the ring didn't fit. I asked Paul to check the ring size had been increased from an R to an S. He checked it and reported to me that yes, the work had been done. It was an S. He then very forcefully and for me, painfully, pushed it very hard and it did go on. It was incredibly tight. He explained that feeling is normal and give it two weeks ... then I wouldn't notice it. Said it sometimes feels tight then it can feel a little looser. I said it's too tight and he patronizingly informed me that I had made the decision to have it stretched by just one size and forcefully insisted I must accept “full responsibility” for my decision. He actually repeated this several times – almost like a mantra. I asked him that, in retrospect, could it have been stretched in a half size increments. He said yes (that was the first time he'd mentioned this). I asked why the ring was tight when the test ring size I had used the week before didn't feel tight at all. He glibly explained something about the inside edge of the ring was the issue blah blah blah and that was why and that I must accept full responsibility for my decision. He added that if I wanted it further enlarged, I would need to pay another $70. The jeweller must be paid for his work, he said. He didn’t seemed at all bothered by my ring being too tight. I left the shop, $70 poorer and disillusioned. With great effort, I later removed the ring. There were deep indentations where the ring had been on my finger. I wondered that perhaps this was the ring in its loose fitting phase and if it later went tight, would I have lost circulation to the finger. Later in the week, I went to another jeweller and said nothing about my experience with Ronalds. He measured the ring size and told me it was an R (imagine my shock!). To get it resized would be $45 (for that price, it could be enlarged up to 2 sizes). Explained he would get the jeweller’s opinion first about stretching versus cutting and adding extra metal to enlarge it. If it all seemed problematic, no charge. A pity I hadn't gone to them in the first place. Draw your own conclusions! After my review the owner made a comment. This post is updated after reading that comment which was: “Response from the owner You must take responsibility of YOUR decision of the ring size that YOU choose !!” Paul said it had been and that the problem was all on my shoulders and admonished me for not readily accept responsibility for my decision. A class act! Dishonest. Disrespectful. Manipulative. Shameless!!! I shan't be back for an encore. Others … be warned."
"We bought our wedding bands from here, he was so accommodating and helpful with our selections. So glad we didn’t go to a large chain, the jewellery is REAL quality!"
"I ordered a Gold Figaro mans chain, I wanted a specific weight, specific size and specific length. So Lance went to work, it is hand made out of Melbourne, and beautiful. It ended up being slightly under original weight, so Lance adjusted the price. If you want old fashion honest service. Don't bother going anywhere else. Best jeweller in town hands down."
