About the Business
Welcome to Lifeline Shop Hobart, located at 147 Argyle Street in Hobart, Australia. Our shop is not just a store, but also an establishment and a point of interest in the community.
At Lifeline Tasmania, we are dedicated to supporting individuals and communities in their journey towards mental health and suicide prevention. As we approach World Suicide Prevention Day on Sunday, September 10th, 2023, we invite you to join us in our annual Out of the Shadows Walk. This event brings communities together to recognize the day, reflect on those we have lost, and shine a light on the conversation about suicide.
We understand that suicide can have a profound impact on individuals and their loved ones. It can be overwhelming and confusing, and it's okay to feel a wide range of emotions. If you need someone to talk to, please call A Tasmanian Lifeline on 1800 98 44 34 between 8am and 8pm, 7 days a week. Our trained professionals are here to listen and support you.
We are incredibly grateful for our volunteers, as without them, Lifeline Tasmania would not exist. Their dedication and compassion make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Every dollar we raise goes towards supporting our suicide prevention services, including the 13 11 14 Crisis Support Line. Just $39 allows us to answer another call and potentially save another life. With 3,046 Australians dying by suicide each year, our work is more important than ever. By donating to Lifeline Tasmania, you can make a tangible difference in our community.
Lifeline Tasmania also wants to acknowledge and pay respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal People, who are the Original and Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and work. We honor their Elders, both past and present, as well as those who may be emerging.
Inclusivity is a core value at Lifeline. We respect human rights and welcome and support people of diverse genders and sexual orientations. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion, and we strive to create a safe and inclusive space for all.
Thank you for visiting Lifeline Shop Hobart. Your support and contributions make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by suicide. Together, we can bring hope and light to those who need it most.

"Massive range of women’s clothing. Friendly staff."
"Top 5 best op shop in Hobart cheep new stock staff friendly"
"A good, well-organized charitable store. Staffs are friendly. It appears to be the least expensive in the Hobart region."
"A nice charity shop with mostly reasonable prices and plenty of specials. There is a good selection and layout of books, clothes and tupperware here. It is bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside so don't be fooled. It's much better than the red cross in the city. And a good op shop place to visit!"
"Nice open clean no frills store with quality stock. Prices are a bit higher than other opshops I visited whilst in Hobart but it's for a very good cause so fingers crossed it's all going to good use. Service was very good. Only qualm, which is a real pet peeve of mine, they have a stack of stuff at the front of the store they call the "vintage/retro section" however most of the items of interest are labelled Not For Sale (with large hand written signs that really detract from he displays). I think this is ridiculous, I understand they are making 'Shop Displays' but if they are for display only then the items are not indicative of anything that you can Actually Buy in the store anyway- if people are willing to purchase these items, they should sell them."
