"I got a quote, sight unseen, for a skylight repair in December last year. I paid a deposit and I have been waiting for this work to be done. Communication about receipt of deposit, when the work would be done and why there was a delay was not given. I have now cancelled the work and requested a refund."
"Without a doubt the best decision we made was to remove Paul from our project and find someone else to do the job. We found him to be unreliable, ill informed, and a poor communicator. In the end we had to pay dearly for these shortcomings. We made every effort to make an amicable break from him and instead of simply charging us for works complete, he eagerly applied his standard trade practices and sound business ethics by considering it fair to charge us for 2/3 of a job when not even one third was complete. Apparently he had to make a lot of phone calls. He will undoubtedly do his best to smooth this over - by rationalising that he deals with multiple clients and only a small percentage are unhappy. I struggle to believe the full extent of these claims. We too have just finished a build and have dealt with multiple tradesmen. He was by far the worst we have ever had to deal with."
"I had a really tricky issue involving sub soil drainage and a broken pipe resulting in water getting into my house. The job required not only repair and installation of plumbing, but also excavation using a special excavator, and rock cutting using jack hammers and demolition saws. Paul was able to manage the whole job, solving the problem. Really appreciated getting someone who knows what they are doing!"
"I have a Hoover dryer which required a repair. Hoover recommended Tassie Trade Services as an authorised repairer. I can’t include our exact message conversation due to character limit. On 27 May 2021 I spoke with Paul Keutmann from Tassie Trade Services & organised for him to check out my appliance. He made a time, but was a no show. I followed up by text, he apologised as he was apparently caught up at another job. He eventually came & I provided him with details of the part needing replacement on 9 June 2021. He gave me a quote on 15 June 2021 for $288, which included call out fee, part, replacement labour + GST. I immediately paid in full (rookie mistake!) & confirmed by text. By 27 July 2021 I had heard nothing. I followed up & he responded he would follow up on the part as it's been taking a long time with everything going on. I am doubtful the part was ordered & to date have received no evidence that it was. Come 5 October 2021, I’ve STILL heard nothing & had no updates. Mind you, he has read receipts on his messages so I can see when he reads my texts. 16 October, still no response so I messaged & requested he cancel the order & provide a refund. 24 October, still nothing - I write & ask he let me know the best way to arrange a refund & would appreciate a response, as I’d not had any updates since late July. 25 October he replies apologising for the delay & that the supplier 'stuffed up' the order, & so have dispatched it again. He stated "I wasn’t aware & it didn’t register unless I get the part or in ur case u reminded me. I’ll be over as soon as it arrives". So despite my asking to cancel the part on 16 October, he calls the supplier & arranges for them to send the part ‘again’ on 25 October. I again request a refund. He states I’ll still have to pay the initial call out fee (no dispute on paying that) & cost of the part as he’s already paid for it & it has already been dispatched (no evidence supporting this). Paul writes on 25 October 2021 advising the total cost will be $170.80 plus GST for part & initial call out, that he can refund the remainder or is happy to install the part when it arrives. Come 29 December 2021 still no contact. In all fairness to Paul I didn’t respond to him advising how I wanted proceed, so I message him to request a copy of the invoice showing payment of the with remainder of payment to be refunded. As at 11 January 2022 he still hasn’t responded (possible on holidays). I write again & ask him to please do the right thing & refund me $182.50 for the part/installation. I express dissatisfaction with the lack of communication, services rendered, & that I require this refund by 14 January otherwise I would write a review detailing my experience. 12 January he reads my message. It’s now Friday 14 January 2022 (almost 7 months since the initial callout) & I’ve had no response or refund. My partner rang Paul today, 14 January, & asked him to refund the money. Paul stated there’s a ‘restock fee’. My partner stated as there’s been nil service, we will pay the initial call out fee but we want the rest refunded. Paul terminated the call & my partner rang back. Paul stated my partner was abusive. My partner said he’s being pretty reasonable given the service we’ve received. I said to forget about it, keep the money & part & we will post an honest review. Both Paul & my partner did use colourful language at this point, but I could hear both throughout the call & neither was abusive to the other. I’ve subsequently posted this review immediately following my partner ending the call with Paul. Update 3 May 2022 - no contact, no part, and no repairs. Haha! What a joke this guy is. NB: He’sw also left one of the two five-star Google reviews under his own name. Interpret that as you will."
"Paul installed my wood heater this week - he worked on the public holiday as I was keen to finish my renovations. Paul presents as a very hard-working, experienced professional and was pleasant to have around. I agree that he's a bit hard to get a hold of but I'm glad I persevered. Good tradies are hard to find..."
