"Two things that are intolerable from a retailer - rudeness and ripoffs - and at this place I got both. I thought that I had ordered dishwasher parts from Stokes Appliance Parts at 51 Burnett St, but it turns out that Tas Appliance Spares phone number is incorrectly listed for Stokes in the Yellow Pages and that Stokes no longer exist. I drove to Burnett St and couldn't find them anywhere so rang the store to ask where they were. The receptionist explained to me that they were located on Argyle St and that it was impossible that they were listed at that address in the Yellow Pages (the implication being that I am an idiot)- even though I had the yellow pages entry open in front of me. I arrived at Argyle St to a stony reception. I showed them the yellow pages entry on my phone - not to make a complaint, but so that they could rectify the error and potentially avoid losing customers who go to the wrong address. I was then given my parts. I had deliberately chosen to buy locally rather than online (even though it was much more expensive) because I thought I would get better service and support and could be assured of getting genuine parts. It turns out I was mistaken, the dishwasher basket instead of being the genuine replacement was just a generic dishwasher basket that I could have bought for a quarter of the price on ebay. When I explained that it wasn't the right basket I was told that I either had to buy it or pay a 30% fee to return it. Having already charged my credit card, the owner of the shop then refused to enter into all discussion and told me to leave the shop. At no time during placing the order was I told that if the part I ordered turned out to not be what I expected or incorrect or even damaged (the basket handle is bent) that I had to pay for it anyway. My advice is to avoid this shop and to buy online, you will save money and time (it took 9 days for them to get parts in for me), and wont have to deal with sales staff who clearly do not have the right disposition to deal with customers."
